We all know trips to the vet can be quite unnerving for some of our pets. At AHO, we are constantly working on ways to change this. Generally, trips to the vet are going to involve some poking and prodding, which can make it difficult for some pets to relax. But there are a number of steps we take to improve your pet's experience.
Zylkene, which is an over-the-counter calming supplement that contains bovine-sourced hydrolyzed milk protein. The capsules can be given orally or opened up and mixed in with food. It is given once a day and we will give you enough to give the day before and the day of your pet's appointment. Species-specific Pheromones which mimic familiar calming pheromones given off naturally by cats and dogs.

My dog, Lily, comes from a very traumatic past and is scared of everything. She has never felt comfortable with new places or new people. The staff at Animal Hospital of Orleans has been trained to take account of every single aspect of fear that could arise as a result of a vet visit. Lily is convinced that the hospital is a “candy store”. Every person that she interacts with talks sweetly and gives her space while giving her treats. She is given whipped cream while receiving her injections and never realizes she is getting poked with needles.

While on vacation in Cape Cod our dog became ill with severe diarrhea. She was improbing on her own but relapsed 36’ before we were to leave (4.5’ ride) to head home. AHO was the only “non emergency “ vet clinic available to treat her. Joanne was very efficient and was able to fit us in that morning ( with the caution that it could be a lengthy wait time as result) . Once there, our wait time was quite short , but in the time waiting we watched all staff interacting w other patients and owners and EVERYONE was polite, caring and helpful. Disorganized.......I made an appointment for my 2 dogs.....The office called the day before reminding me of the appt for my dog........I mentioned it was for two dogs, and she replied "oh yes, I see that".......Still when I arrived for the appt, the receptionist said I only had an appt for one dog, before correcting herself....The confusion continued in the exam room, when the doctor and tech asked what was the second dog here for? they were already running 25 minutes behind schedule, so squeezed 2 dogs into one appointment slot.......now since apparently the scale in the exam room was broken,

They answered every question even when I called before I decided to use the vet office. I have 2 new pups expecting the bill to be crazy and they worked with me and what I could do for the first visit. They are very professional when answering the phone and in person. I love how the vet comes out to talk to you personally about your pet. Over all love this vet office. I feel very comfortable with my choice of bringing my pets to this vet offics.
