Thank You to the Moody Family for the invite. The ambiance of the hotel is breathtaking. When first approaching the grounds you will notice all the bell hoppers in a crisp white uniform and all the staff inside business professionals , nice touch. Christmas decorations are posted along the entrance to the resort. Soft music plays in the background to soothe the setting. I love this place. Thank you.

We splurged and booked the 10th floor "adults only" this past long weekend. We spent almost $1200 for three nights and did not receive $1200 worth room/service. Our room would not cool off and we requested to not be by the elevator bank when we booked 9 months in advance and we received a room right across from the elevators (1013). We requested housekeeping services on Saturday morning and did not receive anything. The towel hanger in our bathroom was broke and there was small pieces of trash on the floor when we arrived. Very disappointed and we are long time Landry's reward

Regina should not work in hospitality.
Ive stayed in hundreds of hotels and never have i ever met someone so rude. I understand it may be hard to find quality workers for night shift but this lady has no business working in hospitality whatsoever.
Our AC was not working and we were provided no reasonable accommodation whatsoever. For $500/night that should not happen. And no sending a security guard to our room at 3am is not acceptable either.
San Luis owns their poor yelp ratings by allowing someone like Regina to deal with their customers.

This review is long, but that's because I am including all the info I wish I had known before booking this hotel. Overall, I had to give it a 2, not because it was terrible, but because it was not worth the price. We stayed 3 nights, and paid over $500 per night. I don't mind paying that, but I expect much better at that price, considering it's Galveston.
- I requested a room close to the elevator when I made the reservation, and specified that it was bc my husband is disabled (can't walk long distances), the rep said no problem. When we checked in, we were told they saw that

I have stayed here many times however the service and quality has diminished within the last 5 years. Firstly, the pool bar area is dirty and the bartender that worked there has less personality than a carrot. A literal carrot. The bar area needed to be deep cleaned for sure. We stayed in club 10. The shower head fell off when adjusting. Also the television kept cutting out often. It made watching the morning news in enjoyable and impossible at times. The room service was great and kitchen has remained awesome. Will stay at Galvez next time.

Sept 7 2019, was my stay. The staff was fabulous, but I got H-pylori from staying here. Certain it was the glasses sent up my room services filled with water. I don't ever drink tap water and in this case. Woke up in the middle of the night and drank that water. I've been sick ever since. If you're reading this and think it's silly. H-pylori is the leading cause of Stomach cancer. I never left the resort and besides that moment... no chance it was anything else. Don't dare walk barefoot in your room it's disgusting. The bottom of your feet will be black in seconds

The Good: Great location and all interactions with hotel staff were very good.
The Bad: I stayed on the tenth floor, a premium floor, rate for the weekend over $600 a night. The access to ten is gained by using a wristband that almost never worked. I requested new wrist bands 3 times and none of them worked well. Don't waste your money on the premium it is just a hassle that the hotel is very aware of.
The shower in my room did not work, the knob has to be manipulated to get it going then only less than hold the waiter is going to the shower head.
I would have ignored these things

This place has gone downhill. I remember going 20 plus years ago when the staff was professional, the rooms were nice and clean along with the steakhouse being on of the best in Texas.
Upon arrival (although stunk) the lobby was decorated beautifully, the check in desk helpful although checked us into adjoining rooms that were left unclean, open water bottles and the adjoining door was inoperable. Broken soap dishes, makeup all over the bedspread. The whole hotel needs an update. Not maintained at all.
Dinner at Steakhouse - wonderful sides, steaks taste rubbery, almost like they were precooked

If you need a weekend getaway but don't feel like leaving the country. I'm from Houston and coming out to Galveston is not always my first choice but if I just need a staycation then The San Luis is the spot. I never even feel like I'm in Galveston when I'm here. Rooms are nice and the pool is awesome with the swim up bar.

I enjoyed my week here, from the many restaurants to the spa. The room was clean, spacious, and had a lovely view from the balcony.
I happened to be here during Restarant Week (not planned, but an added bonus), and was able to experience the special menu for the week, as welll as a few evenings of ordering off the regular menu. The Steakhouse was phenomenal, and I intend to write a separate review specifically for that experience. I also wrote a separate review for the spa, so feel free to check that out.
The hotel staff were helpful and nice. The printer wass broken in the business center, so

Overall this was a beautiful hotel. It was Unfortunate that I came during the motorcycle rally because I could hear all the annoying sounds. Ugh.
Otherwise there is a swim up bar. I couldn't appreciate this because it was 50 degrees outside but I did get a chance to enjoy their pina colada by the cabanas which was yum!
The views of the ocean were spectacular. I have never had a view from my balcony of the ocean across the street and felt like I was so close. There wasn't that many people or congestion so the ocean view was unobstructed. You cannot get a view like this on the California
