Tullibee at the Hewing Hotel is a unique North Loop restaurant & bar inspired by the bounty of Minnesota's lakes & woods. Tullibee pays tribute to the strong Scandinavian roots with a menu influenced by rural Nordic practices of foraging, butchery and fermentation techniques and heavily driven by seasonality.
Our staff focuses on hyper-local sourcing and works with regional farmers, freshwater fishermen and other independent vendors to deliver a local, approachable cuisine. Hewing Hotel is uniquely tied to the rich history of Minneapolis and reflective of the most progressive neighborhood in town. The historic building has been refined, but not stripped of its former life as a farm implement warehouse.

Services
The Hewing Hotel occupies the Jackson Building, a former farm implement showroom and warehouse built in 1897. Trains once rolled directly into the building's basement, were loaded with farm implements and continued on to farms around the Midwest. The building is a prime example of a brick-and-timber warehouse.
The Hewing Bar & Lounge is currently offering a menu of small bites and rustic entrees along with a full bar. Food orders are taken up to an hour before closing; last call for beverages is 30 minutes prior to closing. No reservations are required. The Rooftop Lounge offers exclusive ambiance along with a small bites menu and selected bar service.
Take in the Minneapolis skyline from our Rooftop Lounge and Spa Pool 6 floors above Washington Ave! If Minnesotans are one thing, they are a society of hearty, outdoor-loving enthusiasts who find ways to embrace the extreme climate changes found in the north. Our Rooftop and sauna were inspired by the Nordic sauna tradition with a modern twist.
Your event or gathering is sure to be exceptional at the Hewing Hotel. Our historic building offers inspiring and flexible spaces with a staff that provides matchless service. You'll find the perfect place for a smaller, intimate party or supper as well as a formal ballroom to accommodate a larger wedding ceremony or reception.
The North Loop is considered one of the best shopping districts in the Twin Cities with numerous boutiques within walking distance. For food lovers, there are many award-winning restaurants and bars with unique dining rooms and quaint patios. Adjacent to downtown, the North Loop is ideally situated near theaters, parks, the Mississippi River, a farmers market, Target Center and Target Field.

The Hewing burger was quite possibly the best burger I've ever had! I only wish the pickles were either a dill or spicy pickle, not sweet ones. Other than that, absolutely lovely. Also impressed with the "dry bar" section on the menu. Open kitchen, the chefs were on point and actually cared. I'll go back for sure.

Cozy atmosphere. Nice and attentive hostess and wait staff. The kale and date salad was the highlight. The butternut squash tortellini took Al dente a little too far and the pasta shape was not tortellini. Hardly any filling. I would come back again as it seems they have a rotating seasonal menu and overall was a nice meal.

Weekends are made for brunch and so we found ourselves here at Tullibee. Firstly, let me start off by saying how lovely and friendly our server was. We enjoyed her kind and bright spirit. Now... to the food. Although I found the hash a little salty for my taste, my bf loved it. The chicken sandwich was delicious. We also ordered bacon-wrapped frog legs. I personally don't care for them because as a kid growing up in a refugee camp, I've eaten my fair share. My bf also loved the frog legs. Bacon does make everything better.

I want so badly to give this hotel 5 stars but as an honest reviewer I simply cannot. Here are the reasons for minus 1 star:
1) our AC went out in the middle of our last night here and switched to HEAT. We woke up drenched in sweat and the room was at 86 degrees. They offered another room or some fans as the maintenance team wasn't on site at 3am. The fans helped and they applied a fair discount on that night's stay.
2) the rooftop pool: not every lounge chair has a padded cushion and the button to turn on the jets is broken, it works sometimes but not all the time. I did witness severely

A spoon of pomme purée shoveled into your mouth feels like jumping into a pool of warm laundry on a cold day. Made with potatoes imported from france, you would’ve thought they flew first class. Get them. Chef Flynn and the team flex their creativity from the pappardelle pasta to the whole roasted meadow hen. For vegetarians, the spring hummus and charred flatbread is a great starter and more than enough to share. My only regret is that I didn’t come hungrier. Bravo Hewing.

No wonder they charge valet by the hour….
We had a 5pm dinner reservation on a Friday night, and there was 1 other table with guests already seated upon us arriving. It took 50 minutes after our appetizer for the main course to arrive. When addressing our concerns with the staff, she attempted to clarify that each steak is hand butchered and therefore takes longer… poor communication attempt with less than 10 people in the restaurant. Assuming they had to kill the cow that was filleted on my plate, it was extremely disappointing that my steak arrived to the table barely above room temperature

If you are Minneapolis either stay or visit here! We went for dinner snd drinks and felt like this spot could have been an NYC rooftop.
Service was great, drinks where fantastic!! Ordered three apps and they were all fresh!
Last the view and the decor/ vibe where awesome! Must go to spot if you find yourself in Minnesota!

We LOVED this place. Came here on a business trip and everyone on my team kept commenting on what a unique hotel this was. It was during Super Bowl weekend (2019) and they had a full party going on the top floor. The rooftop area is really nice and it has a hot tub that's open year round.
We only had breakfast and drinks at the hotel but they were delicious and really well made. Additionally, the place just smelled like fresh pine and everything down to the shampoo gave off a very earthy/eco friendly vibe. The rooms were very clean and felt cozy with an eclectic flare. They even had yoga

This is a review for the Hewing Bar & Lounge as their restaurant Tullibee is temp closed. Went solely for drinks and had a great experience. The lounge is a very fun vibe--a mixture of classy and cozy! Drinks are on the expensive side as you'd imagine for downtown Minneapolis ($14), but will definitely go back for the great drinks and atmosphere!

This hotel may be the one that I recommend to absolutely any family and friends that may come in town to stay. The room was both modern and cozy. Trendy, without being too much. The layout was clean and simple. Because of COVID, we signed up for a roof top hot tub slot. We had it to ourselves and it was beautiful! One of the waitresses came quickly to get our drink orders from hot tub and brought them back quickly. The vibe was great and the playlist they had made it even better! Afterwards, we dried off and sat around the fire for awhile. We ended the evening with appetizers from the roof top

This is one of my favorite places to go for upscale drills and great service. Top shelf liquor and a variety of rare whiskeys.
This time I saw a bartender that took care of us last time. Amazing service that is unparalleled to any other. This time I asked what type of bourbon is on there old fashioned. He told me knob creek rye and other ingredients. He told me that it's crazy busy tonight... I watch him grab a glass, grab a whiskey cylinder of ice. Grab the bonded Jim bean and pour me a drink. Handed it to me. Asked me what I got.. I said old fashioned. Then took my money and handed me

We stopped in for brunch on Christmas Day and really enjoyed it. Hewing was one of the only places open serving breakfast. The Christmas ambience was beautiful. We stood by the fireplace and enjoyed smelling the fresh pine from the Christmas tree.
We had the Belgian waffles, omelette, crispy potatoes, chicken sausage, and mimosas. All of the food was tasty and simplistic, nothing over the top.
If you live near North Loop, it's a nice local place to grab a bite.

We did a staycation at the hewing as we live right down the street and have heard amazing things.
Came on a Thursday evening (check in at 3) and left Friday (check out at 12). We fully embraced this place and I hope anyone does when they stay here. The vibes are so relaxing, cozy, woodsy, and for a staycation we totally felt like we were away from our own city and fully indulged.
The king city view room was the perfectly decorated and when you walk in the room it smells like a manly, woodsy inviting smell. All the products in the room are scented to go along with it and give off a relaxing feel

I came here for a friend's wedding, and based on my experience, I will never return to this establishment and would advise that others avoid it at all costs.
Everything was fine until around 10:00, when the atmosphere changed drastically for the worse.
Around 10:00, I left the backroom where the wedding party was and went outside for some fresh air. I was gone less that 5 minutes, and when I returned, I was aggressively stopped by two very rude valet staff, who informed me in a tone and language reminiscent of interacting with power-hungry children that there was now a wait to get back in

I only visited the Rooftop bar and it was a great place to have a wonderful night with downtown view, comfortable chairs, good drinks and talk!
The restaurant and hotel lobby downstairs looks very trendy, modern, rustic, warm and inviting...I would love to go back and try it!
The rooftop is more casual and small, good for talking and perfect for happy hour or just to have a good drink with a view! On the rooftop level there is a hot tub and sauna for guests, but people can buy day passes and access to it. The hotel night rate is around $260-300, not sure if I will be willing to spend that much

I love this upscale bar where people flock dressed fancy. I love the decor with a mix of modern and industrial. They make excellent cocktails. Most recently I ordered a Moscow Mule. I will say I did miss the copper cup a bit but it was still very tasty. The service was relatively quick despite how busy it was. We posted up right and the bar and it was neat seeing them do food service prep right on the other side. I plan to return to eat dinner there sometime!

Definitely a nice for a date or a group outing. I liked their cocktails a lot, the seasonal ones too. The rooftop was so pretty and just felt like I was transported to a mid-century dream. love
I'd definitely found a new place to go in nolo. Food was quite good too, the duck fat fries were yummy, the cheese curds with smoked sauce, was a bit heavy on the smoke, but pretty good too!
