Services
Southampton Veterinary Clinic is a full-service, small and large animal veterinary hospital located in Franklin, Virginia. Since 1990, we have been providing medical, surgical, dental, and preventative medicine for our highly valued patients in Franklin, Southampton County, and Tidewater area. We are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership, preventative health care and being there for every stage of life for our patients.
Saturdays- There are NO DOCTOR HOURS. We are open for supplies on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM either at the clinic or the boarding facility. For your convenience, drop-off appointments are available. A drop-off means you can bring your pet at the time that works best for you and leave him/her with us for a couple of hours.
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Many people have questions about various aspects of their pet's surgery, and we hope this information will help. It also explains the decisions you will need to make before your pet's upcoming surgery. Preanesthetic blood testing is important in reducing the risk of anesthesia. We recommend that every pet have blood testing before surgery to ensure that the liver and kidneys can handle the anesthetic.
Wellness care- "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" That saying holds true for horses also. As part of our routine care we provide vaccinations, deworming, Coggins testing, and dental care. At the time of service we can discuss any issues you may have with your horse including nutritional needs, training programs, geriatric care, etc.

Just picked up our approximately 6 months old kitten, well his ashes. He was taken for his very first vet appointment for his shots and neuter. He died. So we had to pay $50 for the simple surgery that killed him and $160 for his cremation. But at least we got a Merry Christmas from the staff after paying $210 two days before Christmas. Yeah, Merry Christmas....

I took my 15 year old miniature weiner dog here.Sure that I was going to have to put him down. They were able to save him and ease his pain due to exposure to chemicals, his liver was failing,he was in pain. Left him there for treatment. After spending 2 nights on I.V. I picked him up with more medication. So far so good! His appetite has returned and seems to be doing well. I know our pets can't live forever but I sure am thankful for what they were able to do for him. And didn't overcharge me either! Watch your pets if you live near fields where they spray chemicals. It can be deadly to pets

Not everyone has a good review, but I've been going to this veterinary clinic for about 15 years and have been happy enough to come back! They are usually very busy, and sometimes the wait is long, but with patience and understanding that every person feels their pet is the most important, and realizing that they are doing their best, you will be happy you chose them. They treat farm animals also.
