Cottonwood Canyon was the first and only winery in Santa Barbara County to build wine caves! Wine caves are subterranean structures built for the purpose of storing and aging wine. Owner and winemaker Norm Beko hand-built our custom-made wine cave doors out of a 200-year-old redwood tree from an old Ohio bridge.

My fiancé and I had our very first wine tasting here. Needless to say, the owner and the staff were absolutely phenomenal! Sensational to say the least! From education of wines the land, talking story, and giving us a tour of the property. Just breathtaking! We were the first ones to arrive that day, just beating the crowd. Beautiful quality wines and fabulous tastes! Arriving to scenery that was candy for the eyes! I could stay on here and write a book about our experience, but just go by and say hi. Try the amazing wines, and talk story! Nothing like getting to know amazing people. I'm more

This is a lovely property, with nice indoor/outdoor spaces and great views. We booked a private cave tasting in advance for a large group. The person at check-in mentioned they were having staffing issues; we're used to that everywhere these days. But our host in the cave was really, really green, didn't know much about the winery or wine in general, and didn't attempt to engage with us at all. The wines themselves were just OK, but if we're tasting vintages as far back as 2003 that seems like they're trying to move old stock rather than the best they could offer. We didn

We booked Cottonwood Canon Winery for our wedding in June of 2021. Oriana was our venue coordinator and she did an excellent job when it came down to answering all of our questions and making sure everything was being planned smoothly, especially since there were a lot of things that had changed on multiple occasions due to the pandemic. The venue is absolutely beautiful and we loved the backdrop we had for our wedding ceremony. The reception was down near their wine caves and the staff did a great job helping us get everything set up. We were able to use the venue as our rehearsal dinner location

The location of this tasting room and the view are simply outstanding. The people who work here are also very pleasant and inviting. It is a relaxing and beautiful experience. The wine tasting itself was just ok. I'm giving this 4 stars because I didn't like the win much but I loved everything else. I know there are some people who love the wine. I don't understand why. Reasonable people can differ. But I loved the experience, while not liking the wine.

This winery hosted a Molly Ringwald Project concert on 8/21/21 that was outstanding! The venue was perfect and we had the time of our lives! Dancing from the first song to the last, this band does not disappoint and neither did this winery! Top Notch!

Wedding venue was great - ceremony was pretty on their lawn. Reception was down a hill with 50+ steps down and oversee the vineyard and access to their caves. This is the only positive I have. (Food was catered by someone else, to my understanding.)

Their wine is not worth drinking. Rosé was a watered down Hawaiian Punch color, but not clear, like abnormally dark for a wine. Toasting "champagne" looked like dark apple juice color. I was designated driver and did not drink, but my husband couldn't take it no more. They did have 805 beer on tap so he drank that the rest of the night

Very unique wines (I realize that sounds cliché, but they were unique in a very good way.) Our hostess, Marla, was very amicable and Knowledgeable about the wines. Love the charming atmosphere/ambiance and the ample outdoor parking. We met the owner Norman and finished off with their amazing desert Syrah. OMG best thing ever.

Small but classy tasting room. The staff were accommodating and friendly. Sitting outside was windy but beautiful. I didn't go home with any of the wines but I enjoyed the tasting.

Great service by Paul. He was awesome! We enjoyed the $29 Chardonnay bottle which was delicious. They have restrooms inside. We didn't make reservations. It had a great view and was quiet. Awesome! Will return!

The patio area was nice as were the views but the wines were old and a few were beyond their shelf life, although they were still trying to sell them for $25 a bottle if you bought 4! It wasn't worth the 2 for 1 through the priority wine pass.

The dude and I came to Cottonwood Canyon Vineyard on 2/14/21 which is Valentines Day to do some wine tasting. The out to this Vineyard was beautiful as everything was green and lush for now. We saw some farms and industrial area then a few curves later there's the lovely winery!

This winery is so huge! We entered the building and was greeted by staff and even the owner. A young hostess sat us at our table. It was pretty full when we arrived but about 30 minutes it thinned out and a new batch of people came in and was packed again.

It was very windy on the day we came in. They had roses

I agree with the negative reviews about the owner. He treated me poorly over the phone when I called about the winery and even hung up on me.

So because of covid you can't really wine taste, you either have to buy a glass or bottle. They did let us try 3 of the wines on the menu. Nice scenery, we were there on a Monday pretty quiet. They don't really have sweet wine (my fave) but this one was my favorite it was semi sweet and smooth

My husband and I drove up from Los Angeles for an overdue need to getaway during Covid. We wanted to visit a winery and have a picnic. Many wineries are not allowing this at this time due to Covid or wanted a big fee to do so. Well, we found Cottonwood Canyon was open for outdoor tastings and or a table for guest to picnic. Guess what, no fee to picnic for a 2 hour period. We were greeted by 3 lovely women whom opened up there wonderful patio to us. We sat on the lower terrace overlooking the vineyards and beautiful oak trees. We ordered a glass of their Chardonnay and then a bottle of their Pinot

This is one of the more enjoyable wine tasting stops we stopped at on the way up to NorCal the week before Christmas - granted, my feelings on the matter may be slightly biased, since the reason we stopped here specifically was their participation in the Priority Wine Pass (comped a tasting, normally $15). On the other hand, if you do much wine tasting, as long as the Priority Wine Pass is on Groupon (which it is still as of right now), it's kind of a no-brainer getting one. And in any case, I would say the quality of the wine here would have been worth the $15, anyway.

We had visited the Santa Barbara tasting room several years ago and purchased a bottle of 2001 Chardonnay. It was probably 10 years old at that point, and we didn't open it until last summer. It was AMAZING! Still! Neither of us had ever had a 17-year-old white. We are both red wine lovers, but after visiting the winery tasting room a few months ago, we joined the all-whites club. Don't get me wrong, we also bought a case of the 2009 Pinot. Property is beautiful and everyone is very friendly. Highly recommend.

I feel cheated since I was told that I was getting a good deal on the wine that was on special. Bought a box with 12 bottles (over $100)and when I got home and open the wine got a big surprise; wine was almost turn into vinegar .
Now I am not an expert on wine but I do have an uncle that worked his whole life for a winery so I had him taste the wine and he told me that all the wine bottles are bad
I feel cheated and if this company wants to make it right please give me my money back

Many wineries in this region have beautiful buildings. This does not. Indeed when we were pulling in, the odd mustard cement building gave us pause and a thought to leave. Even roof tiles were loose above the entrance!

But the vistas were fabulous and the March sun was shining. The winetender let us sit outside and she brought all 6 of our tastings to us. We were happy! We enjoyed the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah. We decided not to buy (bottles seemed high to us) so we just paid the $15 each tasting fee. We all agreed we were happy to try their wines.

What a pretty place to spend an hour

I bought a case of 2003 Pinot Noir. Every bottle had a rotten cork that broke off leaving the bottom half of the cork in the bottle and having to be pulled out in bits and dropping into the wine! Couldn't be filtered, couldn't be served with"cork dust" floating in the wine. Looked like a pond with dust on top. Of course, if you enjoy drinking cork dust.....

Want an amazing day sipping wonderful wine......this is your spot!!
The atmosphere here is just perfect for a wedding, birthday or any special occasion. The staff is just as great. Sam manages the tasting and she definitely knows her wine. They have a nice assortment of white, light Pinots and even a tasty Red Blend. Their dessert wine pairs beautifully with a dark chocolate. For a casual weekend day or just a nice trip a way I highly recommend a stop at Cottonwood.

I love the name of this winery. You can find cottonwood trees throughout the vineyard.

This beautiful 78 acres winery offers Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Chardonnay hand-crafted wines.

They have cave tours here as well but those are done by appointment only on Saturdays and Sundays.

They have a grass amphitheatre here. We have never seen one before. During the summer months they hold events here.

I love relaxed wine tasting and Samantha the tasting room manager was such a joy to talk with. I learned so much from her about wine and wine making.

We bought a case of 2003 Elizabeth's Vista

The tasting flight here includes some interesting food pairings. This place offers great hospitality and some good wines. Be careful about the posted hours though; as of late 2015 they've had some technical difficulties updating their schedule, so it may be a good idea to call ahead and make sure they are open.
