Billy's Notes: Pink grapefruit, guava & lychee notes are refreshingly inviting, and the wine has a lot of tension and natural acidity, keeping those flavors long on the palatte. Services
Bill Wathen and Dick Dore, also known as the "Foxen Boys", have been making wine together since 1985 when they founded Foxen on the historic Rancho Tinaquaic in northern Santa Barbara County. Since that time, their dedication has remained the same - the creation of small production, sustainably-farmed, vineyard-focused wines using a minimalist approach to winemaking.
Want to have your own label on a bottle of FOXEN wine? We can make that happen and have it ready for your next event, party, or gifting opportunity. We have five different product categories to choose from, and most of our current releases are available. Choose from one of our label templates below designed by Calle Bonita Studios or design your own!
With each type of club you will enjoy a regular shipment of our wine for your cellar and enjoyment. You will also enjoy complimentary tastings and VIP treatment at our winery. Our Compass Club and Anchor Club both have memberships available, but our Master & Commander club is waitlisted. We also offer gift memberships.
Follow Foxen Canyon Road deep into Santa Barbara wine country to the historic Rancho Tinaquaic, and you will find Foxen Vineyard & Winery. Our tasting rooms are situated on 2,000 acres of beautiful California ranch land. All tastings will be outdoors and seated; reservations are recommended though we do our best to seat walk-ins upon availability.
We are excited to welcome you back to our tasting room! We are currently offering tastings by reservation or walk-in upon availability, and when you arrive you may choose from one of the three tasting flights below:. You will be guided through six wines from our foxen 7200 and FOXEN brands while you learn about each wine, our history, and the winemaking process.

The enjoyment of a wine tasting experience depends on several factors: quality of wine, service experience, and setting (to name 3). I would give the Foxen experience a 5, then a 5, then a 4. The ladies who served us were knowledgeable about wine, or knowledgeable enough to converse w us and make the experience lively, fun and informative. The wines were all delicious. Foxen is a class act; no need for a hard sell on becoming a club member. Although we didn't expect to, the experience was so positive that we joined.

Beautiful property and enjoyable wines. While the tastings are preselected there were three tasting menus to try from. (It still bums me out you can't try what you want from the menu like other wine regions, but each region has different rules.) We tried the Heritage tasting and the mixed tasting. The Heritage only has three wines but it is slightly less expensive than the mixed which offered six wines. We also got an additional tasting of an off menu Cabernet which was nice. Our server was friendly and made us feel welcome! Well worth a visit!

We have visited Foxen multiple times in past years. The wines were good enough to bring a few bottles home to enjoy. After this year's visit, we are probably going to be taking it off our list of places to revisit.

Wineries are always at the mercy of the climate as well as things like wildfires--and most recently the covid-19 pandemic. However, after visiting other wineries in the area, this winery might be suffering from another issue: poor winemaking. As it was the first stop of a four winery visiting day, there could be no other possible reason other than their wines are just not as

The location and outdoor tasting location are truly lovely. We had the pinot noir wine tasting. The pinot style here is very bright fruit that almost tastes underripe. Because of the different grape lots used in these wines, combined with the fact that they all had a very sharp and bright fruit, I belive this is an intentional style. However, it is one that my wife and I did not love. We liked some of wines more than others. But we did not love any of them. However, when we were done, I asked if I could try the Cab Franc, which I saw in another tasting. Our server obliged and I loved it

Tamara was our wonderful server. It was obvious she is a hard worker and loves what she does. She has great knowledge on each of the wines. If you love pinots, you will love their pinot flight. Very quiet and mature winery.

Boy, this used to be a great place. What happened?

The service was fine and friendly enough. We were seated at a picnic table behind the tasting room (at 7600) and the grounds are covered in cedar wood chips. Immersed in the strong odor of cedar. How on earth can patrons taste wine with this strong odor surrounding you?

Overall the landscaping was not very well cared for. General ambiance and presentation here is poor. I do like a rustic environment and I prefer the shack to this location.

Wine temperatures were served too warm. It was also a warm day.

Seems the issue here is management

I have visited Santa Barbara wine country a few times now. The last time was a decade ago and I remember I loved Foxen. At the time, it was little more than a barn with a bar/tasting room. It was very low-key and the wines were excellent. I was excited to bring my friend here who had never been to wine country before. I was pretty disappointed.
Not only did we not like any of their wines, save for a Pinot Noir which was decent, we weren't given much to taste compared to the other dozen wineries we visited, and we weren't exactly made to feel welcome.

A decade ago, you could breeze

Got to hang out with my family for Mother's Day weekend at this spot. My review is more focused on the staff as believe it or not I didn't drink the wine ( don't like wine), so was just chilling with the family while they were wine tasting. Back to the staff though, super friendly and attentive and from my non wine drinker POV they were on it when catering to my mom, brother and fiancé. We were there for over an hour. My brother brought a cheese and meats plate from another business which is recommended as Foxen only has wines. The weather was great and the overall ambiance of the

Excellent wines and a wonderful tasting room. We normally take our out-of-state friends to Foxen 7200, but the flagship is a fine alternative. Foxen has done an excellent job with their outdoor setup, and the seated areas are very comfortable. The fifth star for this review is for Micaela. We thoroughly enjoyed our tasting experience, and she was a delight to converse with. She's also a foodie, and obviously loves the art of pairing her wines. Thanks for the Spencer's pork chop tip, Micaela!!!

Cheers!

My family and I have been Foxen members for a few years now and it only gets better and better. We went wine tasting this past weekend and of course, we went to Foxen.

The staff is always wonderful and the scenery is magnificent. Their pinots are always outstanding. I can't wait to go back. I wish I could live there lol.

The wines here are always great. Visited about a month ago and very trepidatious given COVID. Staff did a great job of distancing and providing an outdoor experience that felt safe. And as always, amazing wines and gorgeous scenery. One of my favorites in the area.

We hit Foxen for a tasting on the afternoon of Christmas Eve, because my Aunt and Uncle in Santa Barbara are fans, but mostly because they were the only winery open. The wines were middling, although I liked the Chardonnay (and my wife and I usually hate Chardonnay). Mostly we were dumbfounded that there is no food sold, since it is usually such an easy way for wineries to make money. We had brought some snacks, since we were warned in advance -- the only food available were some oyster crackers to cleanse the palate during a tasting.

The wine here is decent - but, they are incredibly stingy with their pours. Keep in mind, what they pour here will be less than half of what you expect to receive at other wine tastings.

In short, the vineyards are beautiful to see and picnic at, but if you're looking for an actual wine tasting experience, don't expect to find it here.

Guys! There are two -- yes, two! -- locations. One being the main tasting room located at this address, the other a little further north that they have dubbed "the shack" which served Bordeaux style reds while the tasting room showcases their pinot's and whites.

We arrived around 11 on Saturday to a quiet tasting room. It was gorgeous all around with beautiful flowers and landscaping.

They offered two different flights. One was all pinot's and the other a mix of reds and whites. Since there were two couples we were able to try both.

I loved being able to taste different

Love love love!

We went to both the old "shack" tasting room as well as the newer one down the road. Both had great wines, the shack had greater diversity and the new tasting room focused on pinot noir.

We joined the club. Every wine we tried, whether it be rose, pinot, whatever were all great.

The new tasting room had a beautiful outdoor seating area, live music, flowers, etc.

If you are going to join a wine club in this area, consider this one. It's not a big name like Cambria, or owned by a celebrity like Firestone - but after all, it's all about the wine.

Foxen is awesome! Two separate tasting rooms - Bordeaux style wines are served in the "rustic" barn about a quarter mile from where they have a "new" barn that is really nice and serve Bourgogne and Rhone style wines. Staff was pleasant.

I loved all the wine and joined the club. I thoroughly enjoyed all the tasting. I especially liked the Pinot and Chardonnay (and don't usually drink white).

It is a bit of a drive to get here from Santa Barbara but worth it. Enjoy*****

Foxen was one of the highlights of my trip to the central coast. Their large winery is located closer to Santa Maria than Los Olivos on Foxen Canyon Road. The winery has two tasting rooms - the original shack with a very rustic atmosphere and the modern room just down the road.

I chose the modern room to experience their Pinot Noir selection. Finding a group of industry people in the room was a good sign I was in the right place. My Pinot flight was excellent with several vineyards from all over the region to really get a sample of their large offering. The winery has many other options, but the
