Heiberg Garbage & Recycling, LLC is a family owned company that was born in 1947 when Vern Heiberg acquired a route in the Sellwood-Moreland neighborhood of Portland. Vern purchased the route from a newspaper ad and with the help of his wife, Marian, managed the route and paperwork. Marian took care of the books and Vern ran the collection route.
Heiberg Garbage & Recycling currently employs over 50 waste industry professionals and is often looking to expand our team of employees. Please see below if you fit the mold for any current openings. This position requires you drive a large truck throughout the Portland area, dumping small and large containers, communicating well with customers, office staff and co-workers safely and efficiently.
Residential: Where the City has not established a rate above, the rates charged by HGR shall be reasonable with other residential rates charged by other franchised haulers in the Tri County area providing a similar service. Commercial & Drop Box service: The rates charged by HGR shall be reasonable with other commercial rates charged by other franchised haulers in the Tri County area providing a similar service.
WEEK OF 2/15: Due to unsafe road conditions, we cancelled all Monday routes. To make up for this, we are going to run all routes ONE DAY DELAYED ALL WEEK. Our work week will be Tuesday through Saturday this week, essentially using a holiday schedule. We might potentially have to pull compost and/or recycle drivers on Tuesday to catch up on any Friday 2/12 and Saturday 2/13 garbage customers that were not able to be serviced.
We provide 35,60 & 90 Gallon labeled roll carts for co-mingled recycling as well as for glass. Containers in 1 to 6 cubic yards are also available. REMEMBER: All materials can be mixed together EXCEPT for glass - glass needs to be kept separate. We provide 35, 60 & 90 gallon roll carts for yard debris and 35 or 60 gallon roll carts for food compost.

I am very thankful for this family owned company. These are people that actually care about their customers and do everything they possibly can to be sure that they are doing a great job. The people in the office are quite professional and every time that I have talked with Heather I have felt as though she truly cares about me and about making sure things are done right. Overall would give them more stars if I could, I recommend this company to anyone and everyone because they will take care of you and do the right thing. I will always choose Heiberg Garbage!

Really great experience with this company. I've moved around quite a bit so I've had experience with quite a few different garbage companies and not all of the experiences have been great. I've even had other companies completely skip picking up my trash!! Then had to wait two weeks for them to come back. But with Heiberg I've had a great experience. They've always been timely with pickups. Great customer service too, I had to call with questions and they've always been friendly and helpful. 5 stars from me for sure.

Used Hieberg Garbage to Rent a container for a bathroom renovation project, it arrived right on time and was the perfect size. Renovation lasted longer then expected and they were very flexible with us. When we finished up the container was on it way the next day. Very professional i will be renting from them again.

Very classy locally earned business that has gone above and beyond in their services. I called and talked to a lovely man named Joe who promised to help with my garbage/recycling issue, and exceeded all expectations. If I moved out of their district I’d do my all to get them to continue the A+ work!

I have contacted this company three times over a six year period. Each time I have received the best customer service. The woman who answers the phone is professional and helpful and has taken care of my issues quickly-once I forgot to put my garbage out and they came the next day and picked it up, once I requested a new garbage container and the third time I wanted to downsize my yard container - both issues taken care of immediately and correctly. I think they are the absolute best.

What an amazing difference a trash company can make. We were using Waste Management as a commercial customer. The contracts, customer service, was terrible. Monthly I was having to call, because the driver had some excuse to not show up. The bill had no problem coming though!
I called and spoke to Jesse at Heiberg. She was amazing. I discovered they were a family business also. (Which matters to me) Jesse set us up at half the price of Waste Management & what Arrow Waste services bid us at. Without the slippery contracts the other guys make you sign. (And force you to auto renew) No container

Great Family Business. These folks have taken care of our business for years. Never had a problem with them. They treat us well and the staff is super friendly. I chose them initially because their rates were competitive but stayed with them because of the service. I know the name of my pick up guy and my account manager and they know me as well. Very dependable.

I've been in my house for over 30 years and was hesitant when Portland neighborhoods were assigned garbage service companies because I like free choice. No worries! - I've always had excellent customer service from Heiberg and I know about customer service as I work at New Seasons, and that's what it's all about. Rocky, our recycling driver is super helpful, and goes out of his way if I forgot to put my cart to the curb. The receptionists have gone out of their way on more than one occasion as well, giving me a courtesy call when I've forgotten to pay my bill. Who does that anymore? - Seriously
