Although the building is older, they make up for it in many aspects. They have lots of activities for the residents to do, and since it’s an outdoor facility they get to enjoy the weather. For holidays they decorate very well and allow the residents to have smoking times. The staff to resident ratio allows for residents to get better care, and more frequently.

I am giving Maryland Gardens 5 stars because there is no facility that gives more heart, strength, and determination, despite the obstacles that it faces then this place. It's not easy working on any behavioral unit. It can be very challenging both emotionally and physically at times. We at Maryland Gardens do our best each and every day to make it home. And will continue to do everything in our power to find solutions and ideas that will make it an even better place to heal and call home. I was just asked today what I thought would make it even better. The management team is incredible. They ask

I used to work for a group home for women in the 1990s. One of my clients was transferred to this facility. The rooms were like little cottages. The staff had no idea I was coming. It was a surprise visit. I saw my former client, gave her a hug, and her hair was damp, clean, and she smelled like soap and shampoo. I was impressed! :)
