I feel so fortunate to do the work that I love & share my passion for beauty. I love lighting up that inner confidence in the people around me. My big secret is that I don't believe anyone needs makeup, but it sure is fun, & I love that a little lipstick can make a big difference in how I feel some days - I hope it has the same uplifting effect on you too!
Travel open for weddings all over New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, & beyond. For clients located in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, & Santa Fe metro areas there is no additional cost for travel. Other locations require.60 per mile, round trip. I require a $150 fee for nightly accommodations for any service located more than 200 miles away from Albuquerque.
All photos displayed here & elsewhere on this site feature hair & makeup created solely by Christy Johnson C. Johnson Makeup. Photos are all graciously provided by various photographers for portfolio use; some are styled photos, others are from real weddings & are used with permission of the client.
To provide the highest quality service, maximum group size is 12 services (hair OR makeup, mix & match). A suggestion for larger parties: book just the bride, or just a few members of your group with C. Johnson Makeup & ask about our wonderful referrals for local salons to accommodate the remainder of your bridal party.

Christy did my hair and makeup for a styled wedding my husband were modeling for. Her studio space was really cute and she was so sweet and we had a great conversation the entire time. She made sure to ask things that are important to me for my makeup and when she was done asked if I would like anything changed. She did such a great job on both my hair and makeup, I wish I had her for my real wedding day last year! The quality of her work is very impressive and I will go to her again whenever I need hair or makeup done. Highly recommend!

For my wedding, Christy did my hair and makeup, both of which were stunning! She also did my mother's and my mother-in-law's hair and makeup. The quality of her service was impeccable. She was originally scheduled to arrive at 11 AM. We made changes prior to the wedding, and she sent me a new day-of schedule with a new arrival time of 9:15 AM. At 9:40, she still had not shown up. We called a few times before she called us back, and she had mistakenly looked at the old arrival time of 11. She was very helpful after her arrival, but my grandmother did not get the full service she scheduled because

I was a bridesmaid for a wedding she did the hair and makeup for. Although we all looked great, her presence was less then okay. She walked in with an awful attitude and didn’t offer a positive environment. She made the bride cry within 10 minutes of arrival. On a day when you are already stressed, the people you are paying for a service should be uplifting and happy. Not the problem. Her apology was less then genuine and I can’t believe she says she loves her job. Seemed very miserable and made for an awkward day of getting ready. Maybe she can treat models that way, but a bride, no way. I

I had an amazing experience working with Christy for my wedding hair and makeup. She is super sweet and professional, and I was really happy with how everything turned out. She's really great about making sure there is a timeline that works around the other craziness of a wedding day while also not making anything feel rushed. I got so many compliments on my hair and it stayed perfectly in place all day and through about 5 hours of dancing. Thank you so much, Christy!!

As for the actual hair and makeup Christy does a good job. Everything else however is less than satisfactory. Her “this is just how I am” attitude can be very hard to work with. She is not flexible when it comes to time, space, schedule etc. and she will make sure you know it. Her unprofessional attitude caused me to be in tears on my wedding day. Her packages are very misleading and her communication is not the best. I would have definitely sacrificed the quality of her hair and make up in order to have someone who is happy and helpful on my wedding day.

I loved working with Christy! She made me feel extra special on my wedding day. She has so many unique ideas for hair and makeup that we tried out. I eventually chose a smokey eye and candlestick curls which she perfected and i looked radiant. My husband LOVED it! Her dedication to details was absolutely amazing and I could not have been more pleased with the outcomes. I would recommend her to any of my friends and family!

Christy is a true professional. From my initial contact with her through my wedding day she was always responsive, reliable and provided the best quality service I could ask for. Since I had never had my makeup done before I used the consultation makeup and hair for my engagement pictures to see how everything would look in photos and they came out great - nothing was overdone and the photos looked fabulous. I made a few minor changes for the wedding day and everything came out even better then! Our very well experienced photographer even commented that it was some of the best makeup she had ever
