Asa's Bakery
Our priority is health and safety, so we will be taking things slowly and carefully, with a vision to keep expanding as we safely can. Currently, we are offering a limited menu of bread, bagels and bialys once a week. Thank you for your patience and understanding! When you come to pick up your order, give us a call and we will come meet you outside the shop.

Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate pickups outside the pickup window, Thursdays 2-6pm. We aren't regularly in the shop Friday-Sunday, and can't do a later pickup. If you miss the pickup window, you will not get a refund. We specialize in naturally leavened sourdough breads with deep flavor and hearty crusts.

Phenomenal artisan sourdough bread. The crusts are always chewy and the crumb is always moist and flavorful.

I'll never know if the bialys and bagels are good because I missed the pickup window. This is my fault, just slipped my mind. I would think the bakery would be willing to work with me a little, but apparently nothing can be done. Hope the bagels and bialys get donated to a good cause and someone else enjoys them. Everyone has a bad day occasionally, yesterday was one of mine. Some willingness to work with me and cut me a break would have been nice.

My daughter Eiko shared a loaf of Asa's sourdough bread, resulting in the best turkey sandwich I have ever had in my entire life! I have also had Asa's bialys and bagels which were the best I have ever had. I am a foodie and particular about breads. If I had a last meal, I would have to choose all of these perfectly textured and flavorful treasures. You have to savor every bite because a lot of effort and love have gone into his baking!

I moved to the neighborhood recently and have ordered from Asa's every week since - the breads are fresh, delicious, and store well. Love that the menu changes weekly. The bialys are delicious, bagels are chewy and have a crisp exterior - drool - and the homemade cream cheese is so good it doesn't need anything extra. Their COVID protocols are great and easy to maneuver - I have an alarm set on my phone every Friday morning so I don't miss out on ordering.

I'm new to the neighborhood and was thrilled to find this bakery just a stone's throw away. I've been looking high and low for amazing bagels and bialys; I can't remember having eaten a better bagel (and I eat a lot of bagels!) in my life. And don't get me started on the cream cheese. I can even admit that my own amateur sourdough bread was put to shame by the delicious sourdough from this bakery--but never fear, it turns out I can actually purchase some of Asa's starter to give my own sad starter a bit of a boost. I'm eager to try the rest of the menu and keep coming back to Asa's Bakery each

Asa's bagels and bialys are an awesome find after moving from NYC to Minneapolis a few years ago! The menu is somewhat limited at the moment but they are new to having a brick-and-mortar and have added new delicious items already. I don't find the prices exorbitant for a product that is nowhere else to be found, and the bread loaves are priced similarly to other local artisan bread shops. I love their take on the salt bagel- for me, it is the perfect receptacle to make every one of their cream cheese options taste just that much more elevated- loving the Liptauer right now! And the bialys

Had the bialy and everything; really good structure, but as someone else noted, was lacking in salt; and I'm not a salt lover. Just seemed to be missing a few grains.

Having said that, I would absolutely go again (though maybe not when it's super cold out; the tiny counter is right in front of the door and super chilly.

Your bialys are the best I've tasted outside NY, and I grew up in the heart of bialy-making there. Asa's are elastic, soft and oniony, and floury all at the same time. Two things are missing: garlic on some, poppy seeds on some, and a lower price. The price is steep at $3.00 compared to even half a loaf of bread. Never mind that Rose Street Patisserie charges that. Its bialy tasted and looked like it was baked at lower dinner roll temperatures, appeared to have an egg wash, and the onions were stringy. Yours are much closer to NY ones, but with my transportation costs to get to

1. The bagels and bialys are great; as good as i've had outside N.Y. and Boston.
2. The $3 per piece, no matter quantity ordered, is steep. Bagels as a luxury item.
3. Service was tough. Waited over five minutes to place order. Only one other customer in shop and they were having difficulty picking out which one of six bagel choices they preferred. Cashier rebuffed my order of six bagels to go as we all waited. Then, When you pay, you the get the opportunity to add a tip of 15/18/20%. Oy vey!

As an northern NJ transplant (36 years in MN), I'm so excited that Bialys are now available here. And, Asa's doesn't disappoint. Just like I remember them! Thin, chewy exterior, soft interior. The dough could use a bit more salt, but they were still delicious. The bagels are also the real deal NY style; although they should use coarse salt on the Salt bagels. Otherwise, my only minor complaints are that they should offer plain cream cheese (although the Dill and Scallion cream cheese was delicious), and butter as options. Asa told me he's working on getting lox available

As an ex-New Yorker bagel maven, I can attest that you are making the real deal. The bagels have excellent taste and texture, which is something that seems elusive for just about every bagel shop outside a tight 50 mile radius of New York. The sourdough bread is also excellent and well worth buying at $6 a loaf.

However, I'm docking one star because $3.00 PER BAGEL is outrageous. Be a mench and figure out a way to lower the cost because $36 for a dozen bagels does not make them worth it. That's about 100 percent more than a reasonable cost.

Is the real deal folks. A magical bakery that makes bagels, bialys, and breads. You'd have to go 1200 miles to NYC and you *might* be able to get a better bagel.

The seasonal cream cheese is fantastic right now, and the bagels are pretty good. The vibe in the shop was very disinterested. I'm sure some of it is just being a new business and working out the kinks. I hope they do, because a good bagel shop would be a phenomenal addition to the neighborhood.

Until this bakery has opened, I had yet to have an authentic bagel here in the midwest. My partner and I went and were impressed by the quality and flavors available and the friendly staff. I had an everything bagel with dill cream cheese and Dogwood coffee and it was absolutely delicious. Even though it is a bit of a drive for us, it is definitely worth the trip!

Best place for bagels in the Twin Cities, hands down. Actually, I honestly can’t think of a bagel I’ve had in my life that was better. Also, Asa’s hand made cream cheeses blow my mind every time. there are seasonal cream cheeses! Asa has an excellent sense of taste for putting flavors together and I appreciate how much his cream cheeses have broadened my horizons, even with cream cheeses that had ingredients I didn’t think I liked. Turns out I just needed to have them in Asa’s cream cheese the whole time. In addition to the awesome food, it’s a great neighborhood spot And always full
