Hello and thank you for your interest in my psychotherapy and psychoanalysis practice in San Francisco and Berkeley. For many years now, I have found psychotherapy to be a powerful tool for positive change to occur in a person's life. I work with adults and adolescents and offer individual psychotherapy, psychoanalysis and relationship counseling.
It is my goal to offer a safe and supportive setting for this work. While my approach is eclectic to meet the particular needs of each client, I believe that the relationship we create provides the foundation for healing. There are many reasons why people come to therapy. Usually people are experiencing some distress or feel stuck in their lives.

Services
The psychotherapeutic process is an extremely personal one. At the heart of this work is the relationship that is formed between two people: the client and the therapist. The client reveals not only intimate, and in many cases the most intimate, details of his or her life, but also often touches on very painful experiences.
I work with adults and adolescents to resolve issues that cause them distress and suffering. I have experience working with people of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and ethnicities.
While I strive to find the right approach for each particular client, the work tends to involve some combination of examining the past (to gain insight into the origins of unwanted patterns) as well as focusing on the current issues and making real changes.Often we focus on clarifying and experiencing feelings in order for a person to feel more engaged with life.

A large portion of my psychotherapy practice involves working with couples (both straight and gay) to resolve problems in their relationship and foster greater intimacy. I truly love this work. Couples saving a marriage or relationship or those seeking an amicable dissolution will find me unbiased in my attitude towards each person and an active participant.
Are you ready for the most enriching and fascinating journey to the most exotic places, awe-inspiring sights and richest of cultural experiences. Where one might feel constricted and stuck, a greater range of self-expression, creativity, and vitality. As a certified psychoanalyst, I am pleased to be able to offer psychoanalysis (and psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy) to prospective clients.
For many years now, I have been working with pre-licensed and licensed clinicians to further their clinical skills, deepen their work, and get help thinking about their clients. I bring my interest in psychoanalytic theory, particularly contemporary relational thinking, and over two decades of experience doing psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis into our work.

I highly recommend Michael Korson. I can only speak to his skills as a group therapist, but I'm sure he would be a great therapist 1-on-1 as well, because he has the important elements: he's respectful, kind, intelligent, and ethical.
Most importantly, Michael gives clients the right amount of space to do their therapeutic work, without taking over or telling them what to do (which never works). I've found his feedback to be thoughtful and insightful.
