Andrew Kushnick Psychotherapy
I strive to bring genuineness, humor and warmth into the therapy room, but you deserve even more than that. As a former attorney originating from a purely logical mindset, I use science-based and evidence-based approaches to generate practical tools to use in your everyday life.

Whether we're drawing from CBT, mindfulness-based practices, attachment theory or other models, my goal is to help you get to know yourself better, communicate more effectively, strengthen your relationships and better navigate the work world. With Attachment-Focused EMDR, together we can heal the impact of critical or dismissive parenting, loss, and persistent conflict in existing relationships.
Services
Things get so busy. The days come and go, and we're just trying to get through challenging stuff at work, advance in our career, be able to afford living in such an expensive place. In the meantime, it'd be nice to enjoy ourselves a little, right? Hang with friends or family? Relax a bit? Maybe have a love life?
In any relationship, it's easy to get stuck in repetitive cycles of conflict, leading us to feel resentful and alone. We may wonder what's kept us in this rut for so long. A huge reason for this: Too many of us are caught up in our thoughts. Overly analytical. As someone who's been there, I can relate.
Online therapy and teletherapy are excellent modern options for people seeking counsel and guidance in the 21st century. Learn more about San-Francisco psychotherapist, Andrew Kushnick, and how he can help you achieve a happier and healthier state of mind. You may be feeling isolated, lonely, disconnected from the world, which can lead anyone to feel down.
A: Not at all. It's actually the brave first step to tackling a problem, feeling less stressed, improving your relationship, feeling better in general. That varies by client. It largely depends on the nature of what you'd like to work on, your commitment to personal development, whether you're attending regularly, and whether you're taking tools from the therapy room and applying them to your life.
You'd like to better understand yourself, figure out patterns getting in the way of being truly happy, or figure out where you're going in life. At the scheduled time, I'll greet you at my therapy office in downtown San Francisco. It looks vaguely like a living room. Minus the large-screen TV and your dog licking your face.

I worked with Andrew for over half a year, and I have to say my life has changed substantially. He was very kind and gentle, but persistent, in helping me get to know myself again and reframe some of the ways I relate to myself. It's an approach that took some time to solidify, but has created more confidence and inner peace than I've felt in years, maybe ever. I am very grateful for our work together, and I would surely recommend him to others.

I was hesitant to enter into counseling because of past poor experiences. Thank goodness I found Andrew. Truly has helped me reshape myself and my mental health. Almost a year into a pandemic, I'm in the best mental health "shape" I've ever been thanks to Andrew. Would recommend him to anyone!

Andrew was absolutely fantastic and I would highly recommend him to anyone who is considering psychotherapy. I didn't waste a second of time with him over the course of a year. Psychotherapy is of those pursuits where you get out what you put in. If you're eager and willing to do the work Andrew will meet that effort. You'll learn a tremendous amount about yourself and others and get on the path towards a happier life. I am tremendously thankful I was able to work with him.

Oh wow, where to begin? Andrew is a genuinely wonderful therapist. I have worked with Andrew for years, and have learned a lot with his help. Through his gentle yet empowering approach, I have learned several incredible specific tools that I will use the rest of my life. Like going to the gym, therapy is work, and you get what you put into it. That being said, you want someone by your side who is calm, compassionate, and an awesome cheerleader who can be there for you without judgement when you are truly struggling. Andrew is that guy. He is not just incredibly kind, but very intelligent and hilarious

No, he's not the only EMDR therapist in San Francisco, but Andrew's the real deal. He keeps honing his craft, going to trainings and workshops, expanding the range of solutions he offers for treating trauma. And don't get me started on his work with couples... The approach Andrew uses (it's called PACT) is based on science, and he's super-effective with it.
Most importantly, he's really nice! You might not expect that from someone who used to practice law (haha). But seriously, just by sitting with him you'll see what I mean.
I've referred folks to Andrew before, and based on the feedback, I

It's been three months I'm working with Andrew and I couldn't be happier with the results I'm seeing. It's interesting how each session is super pleasant even when we're discussing a challenging subject. I truly recommend Andrew's work and commitment to his patients. He's also an amazing writer, don't forget to check his blog!
