Fifteen members and a federal charter to serve the Torrance city employees began the foundation of Torrance Community Credit Union. Our first office was located in building we now occupy at 1511 Cravens Avenue in Historic Downtown Torrance. 60 years ago, opening a credit union membership required $5 in a share account.
Today, that is the same requirement. Even though we have grown from 15 members and $15,000 in assets to more than 7200 members and $130 million in assets, our standards of prompt personal service remains unchanged. We are advocates for the financial well-being of our members. Over the years, membership eligibility expanded to include those living or working in Torrance, Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes, Hawthorne, Lawndale and Lennox.

PROCEED WITH CAUTION:
Their very own President/CEO Steve Stoppel will harass your family with phone calls & emails when there may be minor discrepancies on payments or bills. He tends to hold personal vendettas on certain customers of color. Very unprofessional way of doing business. Been with them for a few years but now trying to close all accounts, with much fuss on their side. Also writing a letter to the Board of Supervisors to aware them of these practices.

If you have a small business, it's not easy to find a credit union with great service and low fees that *also offers business accounts.
From the time I first spoke with the staff on the phone, I've received consistently patient and helpful service. That's a huge difference compared to my experiences with the big retail banks. The process of setting up both my business and personal sights was smooth and fast. All their staff members have been welcoming and helpful.
Their banking app also works consistently well and quickly on my phone. It's been updated to accept my fingerprint to securely unlock

The representative Tamara D. Bill & Steve Stoppel are the worst financial officers to deal with, they are impatient and unprofessional. With having financial set backs, they were not understanding, but instead threaten to sue me for money I didn't have to pay for my loan. They really push you up against the wall with hands tied, to get the banks money. They didn't offer any negotiation, instead it was threatening phone calls and emails. As a community bank you would think that they would have more compassionate to folks that are in a financial set back. I guess to them its just

Great credit union!
Super friendly staff and a nice, shiny new location in Old Torrance.
Ample parking in their own lot and also out front at curbside, which makes for a no-hassle visit when you stop in!
Membership includes access to some great share savings and draft checking accounts, as well as a seemingly endless list of loans, other financial benefits, and some unexpectedly convenient items (such as extended car warranties, insurance services, etc.)

Opened an account in 2012 when my fiancé and I moved to the South Bay. We figured it might be good to be part of a credit union since we could be big fish in a little pond. We hoped this would pay off when we would be ready for a car loan or a home loan. We were wrong on both counts. They were not at all competitive when we needed a car loan. And when we needed a home loan, they weren't even in the ballpark!!
Using TCCU for these types of big loans was the only reason to put up with the inconvenience of having difficult ATM options, a pathetic website for online banking (compared

I have been a customer here since I was 13 years old and I LOVE this place. They don't treat you like an asset which they are going to use and abuse. They are rarely crowded, easy to deal with, have never made a mistake in over 15 years on my accounts, and everyone there is friendly and helpful. There are tons of atms to choose from probably more than any other bank in the south bay. The best part is you don't have to have millions of dollars in the bank to be treated like a VIP unlike a normal bank. They've helped me through the tough times and continue to provide excellent

The good: You get to speak real people, very helpful small local community bank. Low interest rates on loans
Cons: When you open a new membership a/c they do a HARD CHECK on your credit history. I wasn't expecting a HARD CHECK as I was not applying for credit from the Credit Union, in fact just the opposite, I was parking MYmoney in the credit union. So I did not understand why they had to do a Hard Check, since there are numerous way they can find out an applicants identity namely soft checks on credit, CIP, review ChexSystems etc. Also I should have been careful before signing the membership

The most HORRIBLE bank I've ever banked with!!!!!!!!
I would not recommend this bank to anyone. My husband and I several months ago we were searching to buy a car since the lease with had with Honda was gonna expire pretty soon. We decided to get information about TCCU car loans. The two employees that they have working in the loan department, which are Diane and Tricia they are both IDIOTS!!!! You can tell that this bank doesn't train their employees at all. We were told that we were approved for a $13,000.00 with an APR of 4.75% to go out there to any dealer and look for a car that

TCCU is one of, if not THE friendliest bank in Torrance due to their member service representatives. They refuse to call people their "customers" unlike any other bank, but instead they call us "members", as if we're part of their growing torrance family.
To open an account, you need two things: you need to be a torrance residence and you gotta have $50. No maintaining balance and no hidden fees. They don't even care how many cash withdrawals you make unlike other commercial banks that charge extra after using the ATM more than six times in one month! And even though

I love my new small bank! It isn't B-of-f#*%@^-A-where's-all-my-money?-oh-that's-right-they-stole-it-via-overdraft-fees. It isn't Chase-your-money-down-because-they-like-to-slap-you-with-ridiculous-penalty-fees. It is a cute, friendly, honest place to bank. They even have the high tech stuff you wouldn't think a place this small would have. You can do mobile banking, remote deposit and all the flashy stuff that those big loser banks trumpet as making them different. You can even refinance your loans through TCCU-my car loan rate is getting cut in half by these guys! And
