Services
Rehabilitation Specialists has been providing comprehensive community based rehabilitation for individuals with traumatic and acquired brain injuries for over twenty-five years. Our treatment programs are tailored to meet the cognitive, physical and behavioral needs of each individual in order to ensure successful and optimal rehabilitation and community re-entry.
Many years ago my son was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident in which he sustained a brain injury. During this very confusing and painful time, he was admitted to a "well respected facility." While receiving therapies for his injury, many questions remained unanswered for us. The staff there provided my family and me with very little information and support services.
The goal of cognitive remediation is to improve the individual's overall functioning by addressing aspects of cognition that have been compromised by injury or disease. Treatment protocol is determined by a multidisciplinary approach to assessment beginning with a neuropsychological evaluation. Impressions by cognitive therapists, as well as occupational and speech therapists, assist in determining a very individualized treatment protocol.
Occupational Therapists work with clients to improve participation in everyday activities. Through the use of purposeful activity, occupational therapists help people to resume the roles that bring meaning to their lives.
By using functional activities and targeted interventions, occupational therapists address both basic activities of daily living (ex: getting dressed, feeding themselves, using the restroom), and instrumental activities of daily living (ex: money management, returning to work, household tasks).

The development of rehabilitation programs for brain-injured persons is a complex and multi-disciplinary effort. Physical therapy is the aspect of rehabilitation that focuses on the restoration of functional mobility, as well as ongoing promotion of health and wellness.
The incorporation of physical therapy within an individualized plan of care is designed to maximize each client's physical potential to allow for the highest degree of functional independence and community integration.

If I can give this place No stars I would. I spoke with a Carol from this company and she was just down right rude and uncouth. I asked her a question regarding setting up a meeting and her exact statement was "I don't feel the need to tell you the truth and my schedule is too busy" I simply don't understand how you communicate with people in that way. I can only imagine how she speaks to the residents and their families.
