Jeremy Smith, owner and founder of Smith Home Inspections LLC, enjoys spending time at and around beautiful Smith Mtn Lake. Whether its wakeboarding, riding bikes, church activities or just hanging out on the dock with family and friends, most weekends you can find him there. His career started in 1999 when he first started working for a well known, Top 500, and locally and family owned construction and remodeling company.
Anytime a roof is considered safe and walkable, the roof gets walked. It is critical to check all flashings, shingles and chimney areas for damages that can't be seen from the ground. There are many things that should and need to be checked under the house that may have gone unnoticed for many years.
Smith Home Inspections offers radon testing by a third party certified radon testing company. 48 hour testing is completed using continuous radon monitors. Radon Is a Cancer-Causing, Radioactive Gas You cannot see, smell, or taste radon. But it still may be a problem in your home. When you breathe air containing radon, you increase your risk of getting lung cancer.
Any new home being built or just has been built that has not been officially titled should be inspected before purchasing. If you are considering purchasing a new home, it is highly recommended to get the inspection. This type of inspection is the same inspection performed on older homes. All aspects of the house is included.

I’m in California and was not able to be at the inspection in person. I was able to chat with Jeremy a little bit through FaceTime at the conclusion (my realtor was there at the time).
I was already impressed with the verbal report but was more than impressed with the report I received afterwards. It was available very shortly after the indirection, seemed very thorough, and had photos of everything.
Afterwards, I was able to build a report that I could’ve shared with the seller, but will be using myself, to make repairs once we get there.

I called three home inspection services. Jeremy, despite being a bit under weather, was the only person who answered my call.
The inspection was scheduled for a date within a week.
When I arrived at the agreed upon time and date Jeremy was already there, up on the roof. He spent at least 2 hours on site and was extremely thorough. He answered all my questions and pointed out things I hadn't noticed.
I would highly recomend Smith Home Inspections.

I couldn’t be happier with my experience. I’m a buyer on the West Coast and couldn’t be at the inspection. The electronic report I received was comprehensive and extensively documented with pictures. I had seen the house in person but feel so much better about the purchase given the inspection.
He was quick on following up with me and provided suggestions for other improvements. The digital checklist that I could have sent to the seller was very useful, although I chose not to send anything.

Jeremy Smith is by far one of the most thorough inspectors in the business! We have been more than happy with our personal home inspection of the home we were purchasing. Jeremy is so meticulous with each area of the home – inside and out. He gives thorough, detailed explanations in each section of his report. He doesn’t leave out anything – it’s like nothing can get past him! We appreciate being told exactly when to come meet him, so he can concentrate and do his very thorough inspection then give us the “summary”. He still allows for plenty of questions and will explain what he inspected

I called and scheduled the inspection on Saturday and he got me scheduled 4 days later. He finished the whole inspection by noon and I had an 80 page report by 3 the SAME DAY!! He was very thorough and noted EVERYTHING! I would definitely use Smith Home Inspections again.

Jeremy was excellent in every way! Thorough, organized, pertinent and with great documentation, including the description and photos. He was very helpful during the inspection as well, highlighting the most important findings and explaining everything very clearly. In his report, he put in red the more urgent repairs and in yellow the ones that could be done less urgently, I plan to use his report to make my new home solid, protected and beautiful for years to come.
