Anthropocene Alliance
Anthropocene Alliance (A2) has more than 100 member-communities in 35 U.S. states and territories. They are impacted by flooding, toxic waste, wildfires, and drought and heat - all compounded by reckless development and climate change. The consequence is broken lives and a ravaged environment. The goal of A2 is to help communities fight back.

We do that by providing them organizing support, scientific and technical guidance, and better access to foundation and government funding. Most of all, our work consists of listening to our frontline leaders. Their experience, research, and solidarity guide everything we do, and offer a path toward environmental and social justice.
Services
Generous support from foundations, nonprofits, state and federal government and private donors has helped Anthropocene Alliance direct almost $17 million (cash and services) to frontline leaders since our founding in 2017. None of this work would have been possible if it weren't for the Kresge Foundation, which has provided core funding to Anthropocene Alliance since its inception in 2017.
If the global environment is to be protected and climate change halted, the skills of our most critical and creative people will have to be engaged. For that reason, Anthropocene Alliance is a work of art as well as an educational charity. Though "Art" is found in our drop-down menu, and throughout the website, we expect its ethos -imagination, good design, experimentation, expressive freedom and risk - to suffuse everything we are involved in.
In need of an expert? We can help. Around half of our coalition members have been matched with pro bono scientists through a partnership with the Thriving Earth Exchange of the America Geophysical Union. We have also connected groups to legal, planning and insurance experts. Please contact us to benefit from this support, meanwhile see the additional resources below.
Our frontline leaders have brought visibility to their communities. Their struggles and successes have been reported by the BBC, The Guardian, The New York Times, MSNBC, Bloomberg News, and US News and World Report. Below is a list of media coverage of the work of A2.

Two op-ed's written by Anthropocene Alliance (Aa) members/staff are featured prominently in a new e-book compilation by our wonderful friends at Island Press: Resilience Matters: Reimagining the Future in a Tumultuous Year. The first article in the book - "Climate justice in frontline communities: here's how to (really) help, " was coauthored by Hilton Kelley and Katherine Egland.
