It is the mission of Pierce County Recycling, Composting and Disposal (LRI) to provide environmentally sound solid waste disposal and recycling solutions for Pierce county residents and businesses, with the highest level of service. Success in this effort will continue and grow through our relationships with the business community, contractors, commercial waste haulers, regulatory agencies, and the public.
Services
Waste Connections offers recovery for a variety of recyclable commodities, including cardboard, office paper, plastic containers, oil, glass bottles, and ferrous and aluminum metals. We own and operate recycling processing facilities (MRFs) that are designed to sort and prep materials for recycling.
Many of our facilities accept certain items classified as Household Hazardous Waste (HHW). Items discarded from a residential household that may be reactive, toxic, explosive, or corrosive fall into this classification. We are committed to the communities we serve to safely handle and dispose of these materials.
Municipal solid waste landfills and construction/demolition landfills represent the most cost effective, environmentally safe methodology for the ultimate disposal of solid waste available today. We own, operate, and utilize exclusively, landfills that meet the federal Subtitle-D and stringent state-specific requirements.
Solid waste transfer station operations represent an efficient, environmentally friendly methodology to receive, process, compact and transfer solid waste to larger vehicles for transport via truck, rail or barge to Company owned or operated landfills, as well as third party landfills.
Our properties are staffed by friendly and knowledgeable associates, designed for quick access and outfitted with the latest equipment and technologies to consolidate waste or recyclables for final removal.

Pierce County Recycling Composting and Disposal (LRI) has established an acceptance protocol for asbestos waste generated from within Pierce County. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that wastes from these types of disposal activities are dealt with in a proactive manner which does not adversely impact employees, customers and normal Transfer Stations and Landfill operations.

I really cannot overstate how pleasant all the staff were for a drop off that was a little more complicated than average (for us anyway). While I'd say I've never planned a return trip to a transfer station by merit of good customer service alone, I certainly won't mind doing it again, even if it's a bit of a drive to the backside of Puyallup.

Horrible. Anyone who says otherwise is lying. The rudest people you will ever incounter. If you think dealing with the DMV or IRS is bad try going to LRI. I guess if working at a landfill was the best I could do with my life I would be a rude and condescending human as well. Thank God I went to College. Avoid this place at all costs. On the plus side ( the only reason I gave it any stars ) its a great place to take your children to explain why they need to stay in school and get real jobs , or they will end up like those people. So there's that.

Positive: Professionalism
I have made multiple trips over the years and there has never been a problem. The staff at the scales simply asks what you have to send you to the right place and to charge you properly on your way out. Saturday is the busiest day so be expecting to wait if your schedule allows go in the morning during the week.
