The worst experience I have ever had. Our family went to this restaurant for the first time. We were excited until we walked in and the male hostess was irritated and seeping negative energy. My family of five needed an Extra chair for the table that seats four and the hostess seemed irritated by that. The hostess asked us to take a picture of the menu hanging in front of the entrance door. We did but could not see the menu well, so we asked for a printed menu then the host threw the menu at us and was very irritatable. We tried to get comfortable, and the hostess made it worse and worse. So

Absolutely delicious! You can tell that the chef takes his time and cares about the product he puts in place. The sushi was beautiful and fresh. The miso soup was rich and so very delicious. Worth every penny and it wasn’t a lot either, it was a reasonable and standard price. I will most definitely be coming back for more!

I cannot say enough good things about this place!!! Quick service and the sushi was exquisite! This was my first time trying nigiri and was not disappointed! I don’t think I’ve ever had sushi this good! I wish I could take this place back to NC with me!

I absolutely love this small restaurant. It is the quintessential "hole-in-the-wall special find". It is small (max seating maybe 26) but the quality of food and service is second to none. Every dish, that I have had, has been exceptional; the food is fresh and prepared when you order it (not ahead of time and kept warm under a light). They have great sushi and hibachi meals, as well as many other Japanese favorites. Do yourself a favor - find this small restaurant and have the best Japanese meal you can get in Tidewater.

We visit each time we get to Virginia Beach, often several times. Chef's creations are tasty, fun and always attractive. It is on our list of favorite places to eat when we get to the beach.

The sushi here was excellent. Very fresh and tasty. I ordered the sea dragon, california roll, and a roll that had tempura fried snapper. It was very good. The hibachi, however, was not very good. The chicken and steak was ok but the rice and vegetables were terrible. The rice was thick, heavy, and very bland. The vegetables were salty and soggy; just extremely over cooked. Very disappointing compared with the sushi. And when they packed up my to go order, they left off a salad and both miso soups, which meant I had to make a phone call and a second trip to the restaurant to retrieve those items

This is by far one of the better spots for sushi in Hampton. Can't beat the value. Great lunch and dinner specials. Poquoson Roll is delish! I would give it 5 stars if the brothers didn't always look like they were angry (note they still say hello and thank you everytime I pick up my to-go order).

I went here for the first time, wanting some sushi. The food is great and so was the customer service. I got the lunch deluxe and my husband got the chicken and steak hibachi. Although, it's a shame that there was not any bubble tea but it's okay. Will be coming back here again!

Sushi was better than a lot of other places we went to, however, their spicy is not spicy in our opinion. It's not too expensive for sushi. It is pretty small inside, and the employees are friendly and courteous.

By far the best sushi spot in Virginia, I highly recommend it is family run and they are so polite. I have always had an amazing time when I take my wife and kids here.

Hampton VA has a gem of a sushi joint here. If you don't like sushi, they have some hibachi as well. Its good stuff people. Do yourself a favor and come eat here.

Came here for dinner on Valentine's Day. They were significantly understaffed for a holiday. The rice was very oily and stuck together. It's was not good. The chicken in the hibachi lacked flavor greatly. And the sushi was not good. I don't know how you mess up sushi but they did. The restaurant was not clean, and they had one bottle of soy sauce that was shared amongst tables/bar. Really disappointed in the overall experience.

Okay. Where to start. First of all it's not what it used to be. The ambiance was not very comforting. Walls dirty and it just didn't feel "clean". Disturbed to see that they have 12 HEALTH violations and a lot that are very visible which should have told me to turn around when I saw what I saw. But naturally I did not check this "local" place on yelp because it's been around for a long time. My hibachi was nasty and the chicken was tasteless. Sushi was nasty. Nothing tasted fresh. Had to share soy sauce around the sushi bar but this is an already small place.

WOW!! I have visited MANY sushi restaurants and this place takes the head of the race! Sooo FRESH, amazing, and absolutely mouth watering! My sister and I tried several special rolls volcano, watermelon, and the firehouse ALL absolutely made to perfection! Miso soup hit the spot as well! This was last minute lunch decision but so glad we got to experience this wonderful place, with excellent staff, service , and atmosphere! You guys come check them out you will NOT be disappointed! 😁

The freshest sushi I have ate in years! Definitely a must go and eat! My sister and I were just stopping somewhere to eat real quick and we will definitely go back and bring others. Met the owner Chris and we had no idea this place existed for so long. It had been hidden to us until now. I cannot wait to work out in Hampton again to visit him soon for his super fresh sushi! 🍣

This is the second time I have eaten here and the sushi is great! I don’t live in the area, but when I am down for a conference I make it a point to stop here. The sushi is fresh tasting and the quantity is very good for the price! The restaurant isn’t fancy, but I go there for the great food and friendliness of the staff. You can eat here solo or with a family. I highly recommend this place.

Best sushi in Hampton! I always get the Poquoson roll! The Otosan & Tempura salmon are tasty too. Staff is always friendly as well. They sometimes get really busy, especially on weekends, but it's worth the wait.

Quaint ambiance, tasty sashimi. I can always tell if I will enjoy sushi when I sit at the bar and ask the sushi chef to surprise me and he delivers. I asked for a hand roll with no rice- so tasty with a bite of spice! The sashimi was melt in your mouth delectable.

If you find yourself in this part of town- make this a stop. Great sushi!

The food is good, however the customer service is subpar. Particularly the young man that works around lunch time. He is short and borderline rude both in person and on the phone. Speaking to him makes me feel like I'm bothering him. Everyone else that I've encountered when eating there has been very nice and smiling...but interactions with that young man overshadows previous pleasant dealings. Broken blinds, grease dripping down from air vents, dark. It made me a bit nervous about whether or not they keep their raw fish in the same manner. That stuff is no joke!

They actually have good lunch selections. I notice they had decent lunch combos and I went with the deluxe option. Flavors were decent, my spicy tuna roll was perfectly fried. Their nigiri techniques are very average.

Service: 2/5
I had Daniel and she did her job right but kept me waiting longer than I wanted when the bill came. We were also charged for 13.5% sales tax when it should really be 7%.

The feel is more like a family owned place and it’s awesome. Everyone is friendly and polite!

Another 5 stars for the awesome crew in here. The preparation is always on point, service is great, we're looked after throughout our stay, no matter what. An early dinner at 5PM on a Thursday meant not many folks were in the restaurant.

I walk inside. It's a small quaint setting. The place looks really clean. They're a little busy but there was a table waiting for me. Yummy! Small place, big flavor! I got the steak and shrimp hibachi lunch and it is by far the best I have had in a long time. Steak is bursting with flavor! I am picky about my steak and this surpassed. Very tender.
I have never had hibachi that wasn't made in front of me on a tabletop grill. So this was my first without the "show". Still completely worth it.
I most definitely recommend this place to Japanese food lovers!

Was in the neighborhood yesterday trying on bridesmaid dresses next door, and got hungry. It was clearly a sign that this place was right nearby, so I popped in for a quick bite. I love my Japanese food, and I'm pretty picky about it - but I'm always up to find something new.

I ordered a side of salmon nigiri and the tempura udon. It came with a little salad and ginger dressing. The dressing was pretty tasty actually.
