Coping with being overwhelmed by drinking or eating or zoning out online (insert any other escapism here)? You might think that you just have to learn to communicate better or be less 'this way' and more 'that way'. You convince yourself that you should be able to stay connected by sheer will and behavior change.

The truth is that relationships can often trigger surprising and painful feelings. This is true for romantic relationships as well as relationships with our kids, our parents, our siblings, our friends, or our colleagues. This is especially true for those of us that had challenging family relationships in childhood.
Services
I was raised in an alcoholic family system. I have had to recognize and get right with the legacy of my childhood. I have had to look at the ways I learned to adapt as a child and the ways that those adaptations followed me into adulthood. I have the honor of helping women heal their childhood wounds so they can be more present, authentic, and connected in their relationships.
You may feel scared to address issues head on, but you're aware of the resentment building inside of you and the distance this creates in your relationship. You realize that a lot of your relationships (across areas of your life and across time) have had similar patterns - you know, deep down, that at least some of this is "your stuff".
I am a Level 3 trained IFS clinician with a specialization in trauma and its legacy within our systems. My approach to consultation is similar to my approach with my therapy clients: collaborative, curious, and non-pathologizing. I am a total psychology geek. I love thinking about our systems, appreciating how we've each adapted and evolved to survive our particular upbringings and life circumstances.
I believe that therapy should be accessible to everyone; for this reason I reserve a limited number of reduced-fee weekly appointments (based on financial hardship). Please contact me to discuss further. I currently do not have any openings for sliding scale appointments. Like many other therapists in private practice, I do not bill commercial insurance directly.
