Services
At Frank McCourt High School (FMHS), we prepare our students to be articulate and effective communicators in every medium. In particular, we develop students' communication skills through their writing, presentations, classroom discussions and peer dialogue. In developing these skills, students also sharpen their critical and analytical thinking.
FMHS is enrolled in the NYC Diversity in Admissions initiative and ranking of applicants to the FMHS Class of 2025 will prioritize 66% of seats for students eligible for free / reduced lunch programs. During the admissions cycle, our Parent Coordinator, Caren Austen (ms.austen@fmhsnyc.org) is the liaison for questions and Mr. Javier, our 9th grade counselor for specific student concerns.
The Frank McCourt High School Student Government meets weekly to discuss the issues that our classmates bring to our attention. In addition to serving as the voice of the student body, students enrolled in the FMHS student government will complete the necessary coursework to receive credit for Participation in Government, a required course for NYS high school graduation.
FMHS students work to get 20 hours of community service per year, totaling 80 hours of community service during their high school career. Advisory activities facilitate finding and pursuing community service opportunities. At FMHS we put a high value on students being active members of their communities both in school and outside of school.
The School Counseling Program at FMHS promotes a culture of equity, access, and achievement that prepares all students to be life-long learners as well as contributing members of their community. The School Counseling Program at FMHS supports every student within the learning community. School counselors provide and deliver programs that promote academic achievement, college and career readiness, and social-emotional development.

Unfortunately the school did not meet our expectations. "Poorly run". No one ever is available to answer the phones, the guidance counselors rarely reply to emails.
I believe the school doesn't help the students to give their best.
My daughter went to 9th grade extremely motivated but at the end she felt the school was not for her. Thank God I was able to transfer her to a proven great school .

We are very happy with the school. The teachers are very demanding and sometimes think the students
are already in College which is not a bad thing. The level in humanities/English is very high and competitive.
It is a small school so teachers are very supportive and welcoming. Students are all friendly.
A very good school.
