We're not just a High School. We are a Coffee Shop, a Design Shop, a Youth Development Shop, an Event Space, and most importantly a Community. We love what we do and it shows. With more than 15 years of experience in the field, we're passionate about guiding our students to design their own lives. There's no challenge too big or too small, and we dedicate our utmost energy to the students we take on.
New Design students represent all five boroughs of New York City. Our students are unique artist, poets, singers, scholars and intellectual warriors. Many of our New Design alumni have gone off to great places and are accomplishing great things. Our coaches and teachers provide families with resources to help guide students in designing their futures.

Services
Cafe 418 is a true student run cafe where the New Design community comes to eat, drink, celebrate and collaborate. We offer a sustainable menu that features premium products from our students and partners. We have partnered with local shops to train our students to present high quality product and customer service.
New Design High School is, first and foremost, a youth development shop. We strive to guide students to find their own unique potential, talents and purpose. We equip students with the knowledge, skills, abilities and behaviors that allows them to succeed and have a sustainable way to support and evolve themselves.

My daughter went there as a freshman. I pulled her out and transferred her. The school isnt run properly, teachers or staff dont care. The school is shared with two other schools. Theres gangs and hanging out all over the school. The kids leave for lunch and either dont go back or go back late. Im a parent who has called the school on numerous occasions and Edwin "guidance counselor", never reaches out. He is a liar and shouldnt even be a guidance counselor. He does no guidance. I give that school a big ZERO.

Came in yesterday for the Rooftop Legends event. OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE I WALKED UP 6 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS.. Can you say out of shape? UH YEAH.... As I walked up those dreadful stairs......................... I saw pretty artwork the students have made.. the hallways took me back to when I was in highschool.. except my high school had no windows and it was always dark and depressing.. yeah.. cute school.. elevators would be nice.

We went to an amazing event at New Design yesterday called:ROOFTOP LEGENDS 2007.

The roof of the high school has been converted into a gigantic outdoor museum space. The walls are covered with incredible, original works of graffiti and installation art and the view from the windows is beautiful. A great addition to the neighborhood.
