Saint Vincent Ferrer High School was established in the tradition of St. Dominic, who strove to instill in others a lifetime commitment to Study, Community, Prayer, and Service. Saint Vincent Ferrer High School is sponsored by the parish of Saint Vincent Ferrer, located at 65th Street and Lexington Avenue.

The first school was built in 1884 and was staffed by the Dominican Sisters of Saint Mary of the Springs. Presently, the Dominican Sisters of Our Lady Of The Springs administer and staff the school. The school was started to meet the educational needs of the immigrant population which was flooding into New York City.
Services
The school was founded in 1884 by Dominican Fathers of St Vincent Ferrer Church to meet the grade school needs of the ever-expanding neighborhood. The present school building was erected and the high school was restructured as an all girls' college preparatory high school in 1954. Study: We believe that study is the key to knowledge and truth, and a challenging, open, and nurturing environment is necessary to prepare students for college and a lifetime of learning. Community: We believe that developing a sense of community without regard to racial, class, or cultural distinctions is essential, and that compassion, empathy, and generosity are learned through interaction and cooperation with others in that community.
Founded in 1884 by the Dominican Friars and staffed by the Dominican Sisters of Our Lady of the Springs of Bridgeport. Saint Vincent Ferrer draws on the 800 years of experience in education by the Dominican Order. We have five Dominican Sisters on staff. We're the right size. With just about 500 students we're large enough to offer options, but small enough to care.
For 2016-17, there are 500 students. The current freshman class (SVF'20) is made up of 124 students from all five boroughs, Long Island, Westchester County and New Jersey. Ferrer Scholars and Honors programs are merit-based scholarship programs. Qualifications are based on TACHS scores, grade school academic records, and impeccable conduct reports from 8th grade. Ferrer contacts the students selected for the scholarships at the end of January. Scholarships are renewable yearly if requirements are met.

This is one of the worst institutions I've ever had the displeasure of knowing and attending. Do not send your daughter here. Unless you like being traumatized and wasting thousands of dollars.
I transferred here excited for the opportunity of a high quality education they claimed to have, and instead I had my high school career ruined and one of the worst school months I've ever had in my life. St. Vincent is horrid through and through - the faculty, their beliefs, and the students. They are a disgrace to the Church and to single gender schools.
