Verbum Dei is a Catholic, Jesuit high school located in Los Angeles, California. The school provides its all-male student body a rigorous college prep curriculum that is complemented by a unique corporate work study program. Verbum Dei maintains its 100% college acceptance rate through the hard work of the young men who are empowered and strengthened by a demanding and nurturing environment, strong sense of brotherhood, and a deep sense of God's presence and love in their lives.
Services
Verbum Dei High School students are expected and encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities. Extracurricular involvement allows students to explore their interests in a variety of areas outside of the classroom, provides students with the opportunity to gain leadership experience, and encourages brotherhood throughout the campus.
Throughout the year we have many events, and opportunities available to complete your parent service hours. Volunteers and donations are needed for many verb events. Please see the list below and lookout for emails, and phone calls throughout the year. The events listed above are only a few opportunities that we have available; we will send emails or phone calls as we approach events.
In one sense, the graduate is a threshold person: he is on the threshold of adulthood. The world of childhood has been left behind. The movement from childhood toward adulthood has involved physical, emotional and mental development which has brought out strengths, abilities, and characteristics which adults and peers began to appreciate.
I am delighted to welcome you to Verbum Dei High School and to the larger enterprise of Jesuit education. In joining this community you become a member of a global community, with a presence on every continent and a history that reaches back almost 500 years to 1547 and the founding of the first Jesuit college in Messina, Sicily.
The faculty of Verbum Dei High School is dedicated to providing their students with a quality education. They are committed to utilizing effective instructional strategies, providing necessary supports, and maintaining the academic rigor required of a college preparatory high school. Our faculty models Ignatian Pedagogy in being "men and women for others" by going above and beyond in service to their students.

They say a school is run by the student’s drive to learn and participate and be activley involved in school events and activities. But what i am to this day still having a hard time understanding is how a school with so many rules and regulations encourages students to be involved. Verbum dei is no school but instead a prison because only prisons have more rules than there are laws and the worst part about it that makes it feel even more like a prison is the fact that there is no clear consenses on what rules are in place and at what extreme is a rule broken. The so called “rules” present

You would be hard pressed to find a more well rounded program that is dedicated to providing a quality education to those from an "Educationally Under-served Community."
My two son's and two nephews are recent graduates of Verbum Dei. I have one last nephew that is still at VERB. They have a 100% graduation rate and 100% of the kids that GRADUATE from Verb, are accepted to college.
If, for whatever reason, you are able to start at Verb, yet not finish, that says less about Verbum Dei and more about you and your character. If you give Verbum Dei your son, for the full 4 years, they will return

I wish I could give it less than one star.
WORST High School experience of my life! That is no exaggeration.
Luckily, I only attended this school my freshman - junior year. I still question up to this day how half of the teachers got hired. The teacher's CAN'T teach, and I've encountered far better teachers who care about their jobs and their students at other schools. I don't want to say all the students were snotty because there were some (VERY few) nice ones that made the place a little more bearable. The school is FULL OF BULLIES & would harass you for any little thing. In my case just for
