Services
Pawz Veterinary Clinic is proud to serve the Firestone, CO area for everything pet-related. Our veterinary clinic and animal hospital is run by Dr. Dawn Reiter, who is a licensed, experienced Firestone veterinarian. Our team is committed to educating our clients in how to keep your pets healthy year round, with good nutrition and exercise.
Dr. Reiter is the owner of Pawz Veterinary Clinic. She grew up in Nebraska on a farm surrounded by animals. After initially pursuing a medical degree, she moved to Iowa State University where she earned her degree in Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she spent a year in New Jersey at a state-of-the-art, 24-hour emergency hospital completing a Veterinary Internship.
At Pawz Veterinary Clinic all cats and dogs coming in for annual exams or consultations will receive a thorough physical examination by an experienced veterinarian. This includes checking the eyes, ears, teeth, heart, lungs, abdomen and lymph nodes, along with any other concerns owners may have such as lumps and bumps, unexplained pain, weight loss, eating issues or changes in behavior.
Cuddling with your cat or dog does not have to be a bad experience because of offensive mouth odor. One of the main concerns heard by our doctors and their staff while helping a client is how bad their pet's breath is. Bad breath isn't just unpleasant - it can be unhealthy. Up to 80% of dogs and 70% of cats that do not receive proper dental care may show signs of dental disease by the age of 3. Dental disease is caused by bacteria in the mouth.
Unfortunately, our pets can't tell us when they're in pain. While veterinarians are trained to detect pain and illness, the first person to recognize if your pet is hurting will be you. Often dogs and cats instinctively mask injury and illness as a protective mechanism, so it can be challenging to detect when they're in pain.

Consultation/Exam =$54. Checked weight and heartbeat. Problem was swollen eye. Dr. Indicated could be infected, something under the eyelid or a tooth abscess but only looked from a distance. Did not look at tooth or examine the eye under magnification. Prescribed antibiotic to try and check back in 2 weeks. After I paid the $109.15 for the guesswork and prescription, I was told not to come back because I wouldn't provide an address for their (system). They are naïve to think 100% of the information in their system is correct for billing purposes. People will either pay for services or not. I paid

I had a great experience getting my kitty 🐈⬛ neutered. They were so friendly, and so quick! They even called a few days later to check up and see how potato was doing! They did everything I asked them to do: get him chipped, get his vaccines, it was all done in one visit and was super affordable! Thank you guys so much!

Our 9.5 year old dog started yelping in pain when she would stand up or try to get on sofa. She wouldn't pick her head up over her shoulders and was acting lethargic. Our vet pf
Three years couldn't see her for nearly four weeks. After calling every veterinarian within 25 miles, Pawz Veterinary Clinic gave us a same day appointment. They squeezed us in. For that they have new customers for life! Not to mention Dr. Reiter was terrific! She believed it was a pinched nerve and gave our poor dog some anti inflammatory and pain medication. 15 hours later there is an amazing improvement

They are very professional and caring. I had my cat euthanized there they were very kind never rushed us they explained everything to us through the whole process. They let me hold her when it happened. I wanted my sweet Jenny to know she was loved to the end my husband was there also he was so grateful to be there in the end also. She cuddled us both through her life. Thanks for making a sad situation comfortable and compassionate

Pawz is the quintessential small town veterinary clinic where your pet is given loving care, you're treated as a neighbor, and there is no up sell or price gouging happening. Same day appointments are possible, and most times it's Dr. Reiter answering the phone.
Our first visit was to put down our beloved Caviler King Charles Spaniel. We were treated like longtime friends on one of our toughest days. Compassion, space and dignity was shown as we said goodbye.
Our new Caviler will be seen here, and we could not be happier. Hope they keep their feel as a small town place. We would not
