One thing that sets Family Pet Hospital apart is our low stress approach to care. We strive to reduce the stress of coming to the veterinary hospital to improve overall wellness of the patient, allow for a thorough, accurate health assessment and provide a safe environment. We want your pet to enjoy coming for visits to the vet!.
A healthy mouth means more than just a teeth cleaning. Our dental cleaning and oral health assessments consist of a twelve step process to clean all of your pet's teeth above and below the gum line. At discharge, we provide before and after photos and a detailed dental chart. We will discuss the findings of the dental assessment and create a plan together for your pet's oral care.
Preventive care is an essential part of ensuring our pets' health. At Family Pet Hospital in Longmont, preventive care includes: puppy and kitten exams, annual exams for adult patients, bi-annual exams for senior pets, annual blood work, annual vaccinations, and heartworm prevention. We recommend 8,12, and 16 week exams for puppies and kittens, yearly exams for our adult pets and 6 month exams for our senior pets.
Family Pet Hospital provides a uniquely effective environment for our clients and our feline friends. A visit to the veterinarian can be especially scary for cats, resulting in fear-associated aggression, which can be dangerous for them and the people nearby. The ability to conduct a physical examination also can be compromised.
Diagnostics tests are essential to helping our patients feel better faster. They help us to decide whether a patient is on the correct type and dose of medication, and whether a previously diagnosed condition is well controlled. My baby girl was the most sweetest, strong and engertic lasha apso that I had every owned and loved so much. She was the key to my happiness and distraction. All of my family and friends had enjoyed her company and wildness since she was 6 weeks old to 14 years old.

We moved to Colorado last year, and Family Pet Hospital was recommended to us, and for that we are GRATEFUL! Dr. Abernathy and the rest of her staff are amazing! Brought in my super scaredy dog for internment limping and I was really apprehensive. She wouldn't even walk for the Doc she was so scared, but the vet sat down on the floor until my baby army crawled to her. She was warm and took us seriously about her pain but also made a great plan for our next visits so Remmy wouldn't be so scared. Definitely ask about their "happy visits" or whatever theyre called of you've got nervous pups.

I’ve been to a lot of vets in the area and this is by far and away the most kind, caring and thoughtful one that I have found! All of the staff are incredibly helpful and take their time with you to answer questions. The office is very warm and super spacious after their expansion to allow for multiple doors for entry and exit. They always make my dog (and me) feel so welcome and cared for. I’m so sad to be moving and not be able to take them with me! So Highly recommended!
