A great place for some basic breakfast classics. They have GF bread and allow substitutions if you have dietary restrictions.

NOT A GOOD PLACE FOR VEGETARIANS. Good service, okay coffee, bad food. Barely any vegetarian options and no vegan options. This sandwich felt like my only choice. It was one of their lunch specials. Very disappointing. Dry, gross bread. Smeared with flavorless tomato sauce, mushy, unseasoned vegetables, and some ricotta. Even the fries are limp and unappetizing.

A TALE OF TWO RESTAURANTS - Today, my daughter and I headed to the 29th Street Counter Cafe for lunch. When we arrived, the hostess told us she could seat us outside immediately, but she would need a minute to clear the table and suggested we wait inside. After waiting for 10 minutes, I asked for the hostess. No one could find her, so another staff member sat us outside. The staff sat another family at our table, which was fine. However, after another 10 minutes, the family was shuttled off to a table inside. Finally, my daughter went to look for the hostess (again) to see where our waiter was

This morning there was a 30 minute search for where to eat. My husband wanted biscuits and gravy and my niece wanted a mimosa. Plus it’s a Wednesday so most brunch places are not serving brunch during the week. We found Counter Cafe and headed over. I wasn’t sure from the outside but the inside is good. The menu is fabulous with locally sourced items. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy and 2 eggs (comes with biscuit and choice of meat) he ordered sausage and a side of potatoes. Our nieces had mimosas. One niece ordered the 2 eggs with a biscuit and bacon. She said her bacon was perfect.

Great sides, great sandwiches, great breakfast.
I ordered the single crabcake off the sides menu and sautéed spinach as an appetizer, get it!
Turkey club was good too and the gluten-free bread was great as well.
Champagne, mimosas, bloody Mary’s, wine by the glass and a full bar.
Cozy joint

Awesome food! Their biscuits and gravy are excellent. Their hanger steak is seasoned and seared extremely well. Their pancakes are next level! Definitely recommend this place but know if you come on a Saturday or Sunday for brunch or breakfast you will wait… but it’s worth it.

The hot cakes and eggs Benedict were very good. Very disappointed with the biscuits and gravy. No flavor and biscuit was under cooked. It was extremely hot in the restaurant and the seats were uncomfortable and at a bar but we waited 40 min already for a table so we sat there. The server was awesome but the gentleman in the front taking the reservations was a bit short with everyone. There is no where to wait indoors for a table and it was almost 100 degrees outside. Overall I expected more with all the rave reviews.

Yelp told me to finish my review and show my support for this place, but to be honest this place is absolutely overpriced and not great. Also left my holy tummy feeling not so great. The lord may forgive, but I do not. Olsteen Out.

Had some beautiful banana and chocolate chip pancakes they are huge and really good. I split with my wife. Had the Joe's special which was scrambled eggs on top of spinach and French fries and it was really good place is a little loud but it's a small American breakfast dinner and they cook in front of you

We went on a weekday at 8:30 am so there was no wait. The chocolate chip hot cake/pancake is the best I have ever had. The size of one hot cake is also very large, at least for me. I couldn't finish it in one sitting. We also ordered the Joe's special. You can tell that their ingredients are fresh. Definitely recommend the hot cakes and the Joe's special. I like Kerbey lane for the other items on their menu, but the pancakes at counter cafe are certainly much better.

We arrived on a Saturday before noon and only had a 15 min wait which is unheard of. The food was so fresh and full of flavor. I was trying to be healthy so I got Joe's Special. But at the waitresses suggestion, swapped out the bread for a homemade biscuit. Then my son ordered a hotcake and I decided to throw caution to the wind and got a side of blueberry hotcake for myself.
Everything was so good! Hot cakes were fluffy and house sausage was full of flavor!! You can't beat the flavor of natural, organic or locally sourced ingredients. My only complaint is I need them to come a little closer to

Went for breakfast and enjoyed the counter seating watching the cooks make big a** pancakes but i had ordered the eggs benny before spotting the flaps. But my benny was good. I ordered sausage with it instead of the pastrami. My friend had the oatmeal. The coffee served was a good medium roast. All the servers were very nice. Plenty of parking all around the building on the property.

The wait times are long but if you got the time it's really worth it! I believe the wait time is due to it's popularity and the food is prepared fresh. This is a regular spot for me, and the best tip I can give is to check out their specials on the chalkboard. Also if you are vegetarian, they are kind to work out substitutions.
This restaurant introduced me to a good coffee brand and we love it! I love the coffee so much here that I sought out the coffee brand to buy for my home.

It's usually really crowded and servers/cooks are so busy on the weekends that you may have to wait for almost an hour to actually get the food. BUT once you taste the food, you'll forget everything and think the waiting was so worth it. All the menus I've tried so far was 5/5! And even their coffee is amazing!

We were headed to the thrift stores and grabbed a great breakfast at the Counter Cafe. It was going on noon and had about a 30 minute wait on 6/20/21 so not terrible. I had Eggs any Style (2 eggs scrambled) and added two eggs to that order. Our party also had Eggs Benedict (delicious), Biscuits and Gravy (fabulous gravy) and a Club Sandwich (which was probably the least liked of all choices - a bit dry, not much meat to my standards. All reported that it was very good. Service was great and restaurant was clean. They really took care of their customers including those waiting and the carry out

The food is always very great but the service is absolutely horrendous. And when I say horrendous I mean I have never been treated with so much disrespect as a customer than I have when I have gone to this location especially on the weekends and particularly by waiter named Devin. If it weren't for the kind gentleman cleaning tables I would have left almost immediately. Devin absolutely ruined my day. In fact I don't think I will be back for a while because of Devins lack of service. He was so rude. Seem to also question if we could afford things (like refills on grapefruit juice) and

I feel safe in this establishment. There is great outdoor seating and even the inside is very well ventilated (they often keep both doors open). There's also hand sanitizer and the staff wear masks. The food's pretty good too! Glad to have this place near me during these covid times.

I love the ambiance of this restaurant, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. I ordered the eggs benedict, a side of toast, and an orange juice. This cost $23 dollars. I was very disappointed as the eggs/hollandaise sauce tasted off, and somewhat bland. The orange juice was fresh squeezed, but tasted like the oranges were under ripe. I'm not confident, but the sourdough toast seemed like it might have gone stale and they only offer strawberry jam (which was very good), but I usually like to have a few options.

My SO ordered the steak & eggs. For $19 he got a charred (black as night

We've always been a fan of Counter Cafe. We love the East Austin location but several times we went there, the waiting was too long. We are so excited when they open up this location, very close to where we live.

We came here Sunday morning 11 am ish. We had to wait a little bit, was told 15 minutes but a table opened up much faster than that.

Coffee here is not the best. But the food here is good. I had the Eggs Any Style, with a side order of Breakfast Potatoes that we all shared. My daughter got the Counter Benedict and my son Counter Burger. My husband got the breakfast tacos. We all

For months my friends and I have watched the construction near 29th & Guadalupe, in the space previously occupied by Conan's Pizza. We are huge fans of Counter Cafe on Lamar and getting a brand new CC in our own neighborhood is a real Christmas gift. This CC even has a full bar. On a recent visit for lunch, we sampled the bartender's signature drinks, including a spicy Bloody Mary that I can't wait to order on my next visit. The grilled quail and chopped salad I had for lunch were excellent.

Congratulations to the owners and their staff on the launch of the new location
