Worthy Village is a 501c3 non-profit organization with a mission to build pathways out of poverty for women and children in Guatemala by providing economic opportunity, healthcare, and education. At Worthy Village, we believe that humanitarian action should empower people to live with dignity by building pathways out of poverty.
Despite years of chronic instability and civic strife, Guatemala is a place of fiercely resourceful people who honor traditions, welcome visitors, and speak candidly about their lives. Sadly, women are among the most marginalized communities there. Unleashing their economic potential is central to growing their voice, improving their lives, and ultimately, strengthening their communities.
Partnering with over 60-skilled artisan women in Guatemala, we're providing them and their families with economic opportunity. We have established partnerships with more than 60 skilled women artisans living in the impoverished villages surrounding Lake Atitlan. Our artisan partners sell their wares to tourists, but profits are not sufficient enough to pay for basic needs.
Providing clean water filtration systems to the villages on Lake Atitlan who need it most. By working with local clinics, our social workers identify families suffering from illnesses caused by lack of clean drinking water. We provide these families who are most in-need with Sawyer Water Filtration Systems that last 7-10 years and reliably provide clean drinking water.
We partner up with families on Lake Atitlan who are in the most extreme poverty and facing the most difficult situations. A social worker meets with the family and develops a profile on the family and what help they need. Sponsorship levels range from $30/month to $90/month which allows us to send a social worker to meet with your family or families once per month, identify need and provide solutions.
