Services
The Cottage House Inn is a third-generation family-owned and operated business. In the early 1990s, Lanesboro started to see more visitors with the increasing popularity of the Commonweal Theatre and the Root River State Trail. During this time, there were not many lodging establishments in town, and the Bunge family noticed a need for more overnight accommodations.
Reserve great Lanesboro MN lodging near the Root River Trail, offering comfortable beds, private baths, free Wi-Fi, a locked bike storage shed and off-street parking. Main House: Rooms in the Main House are furnished with antiques and are accessed by entering the lobby or side door entrance from the north parking lot.
Our 1000 square foot meeting room is a favorite gathering place for families and groups. The room can seat 36 people at six 6-foot tables and also has a seating area with couch and chairs and a piano. There is counter space with a sink, refrigerator, and microwave as well as access to wine glasses, cups, plates, silverware and other serving ware.
Lanesboro provides a chance to escape from everyday life and unwind in the natural beauty of the driftless region while taking a bike ride, paddling the river, hiking, fishing, shopping, watching live theatre, listening to live music, eating a rhubarb treat, or drinking a local brew. Recreation, arts, and relaxation await you in Lanesboro.

Stayed the night after a bike race and enjoy the town afterwards. It was a beautiful day the day after the race, so I decided to stay an extra night. Nice clean rooms, great location and incredible porch. Alison was very friendly and helpful.

What a perfect place to rest, rejuvenate, bike, read, write, and come home renewed! We have gone many times, and we are already planning our next trip.

Very helpful and pleasant manager, Alison. Good common areas with fridge and microwave. Water was somewhat hard in the shower. The building can be a little noisy due to thin walls and slamming doors.

Cottage House Inn is ideally located .Access to the Root River bike trail is a block away and you can easily walk to restaurants, Sylvan Brewery, theater, shops and Art Gallery. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. And there were some lovely antiques in our room. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I also liked that coffee and tea are available all day and can be enjoyed on the front porch. They also have great bike storage. I look forward to staying again. A special Thanks to Alyson for her friendly professionalism!

My husband and I have been going to Lanesboro, MN for the last 4 years to ride the Root River Trail. We absolutely love this place! Alison Leathers manages the inn and is very wonderful to work with. She responds promptly to all emails.
The rooms are always very, very clean and any requests we have are attended to. We also enjoy sitting on the front porch after a long day's bicycle ride. I would highly recommend these accommodations. We're sure to return!

We truly enjoyed our stay! The staff was friendly and helpful. Amenities were great! They provided a locked shed for our bicycles and off street parking. The gathering room was a great place for snacks and games with friends. We loved the flexibility the manager gave us, so we could enjoy one last bike ride on the Root River Trail. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

They didn't have a room that fit my needs, and Gail prompted to refer me to 3 other places, one of which worked. I didn't get to stay with them, but they are a class act.

Meh. The place is clean, but has very few amenities. No shampoo or conditioner, no hair dryer. No TV. Very basic decor with powder puff blue floral sheets. It is fine for one night, but I wouldn't want to spend the week there.

Our favorite place to stay in Lanesboro. It is right on main downtown street. The front porch is a good place to people watch. Rooms are reasonable size, always clean and nicely decorated. Note to TV watchers, the rooms do NOT have TV. There is a tv in the lobby.

Breakfast is only available on weekends. Coffee and tea is available most of the time in the lobby.

They have covered locking bike storage. The Root river bike trail is very close and easy to get to.
