You are already complete. You already possess all that you need. It is simply our forgetting this truth that is at the root of our mental and emotional stress. My role is to help you re-connect and re-align with what is most true and authentic within you so that you can thrive.

Having an ally with you in your healing, someone who has been there, who understands, and who can help be your guide is one of the most valuable resources toward your total health; body, mind, and spirit. My lens is holistic and integrative and I use a variety of practices and techniques to help you begin to see yourself through that same lens.
Services
I earned my degree in somatic psychotherapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies and I am a licensed somatic psychotherapist. My graduate studies have given me the skills, tools and language to facilitate the healing process for others in a holistic way. I am a certified yoga nidra teacher and yoga therapist through the Integrative Restoration Institute.
My job is to align with you and help you connect to and manifest the life you want. The lens I view through is integrative and holistic. I rely on a combination of psychodynamic theory, somatic inquiry, and yogic wisdom to gain insight, facilitate process, and help effect real lasting change. Psychotherapy is more than just mental analysis and yoga is much more than the physical postures.
All interactions which take place in the setting of therapy are considered confidential. This includes requests by telephone, all interactions with this counselor, any scheduling or appointment notes, all session content records and any progress notes that I take during your sessions. I will not even verify that you are a client.
In our sessions, I meet you where you are. I listen for the core issues, and track your body and breath, gathering information about your psyche, your emotions, and your nervous system's response to stress. We cannot heal what we don't acknowledge. So one of my main tasks is helping you turn toward those harder, more stuck, more reactive places inside of you by helping you to hold your attention there long enough to uncover what needs attention.

Deborah was a devoted Marriage and Family Therapist who met me somatically and especially got me through graduate school in a similar discipline. Like an ever-flowing emotional well, my relationship with Devorah has never grown dry despite us naturally going our own ways at this time. Gratitude for the connection.

Devorah was wonderful. I went for a short time (by my choice) and she helped me quite a bit. She was one of the most insightful therapists I've ever been to and she was always kind and patient. I am very grateful I had the chance to work with her.

So I'm writing this with tenderness and a lot of mixed emotions. Devorah was my therapist and yoga teacher for a few years. As a yoga teacher, she's a five star extraordinaire. Having her as a therapist was a mixed experience, with a lot of blessings and one or two challenges that were simply not okay.

She's excellent with meeting, and holding, big emotion- really anywhere you need to go, she will fearlessly walk into that fire and meet you there, and hold you and hold space in big, messy emotions. A billion stars for that, and for her somatic (embodied) work.

Devorah Sacks is a kickass guide to the sometimes ecstatic, sometimes gnarly journey of self discovery. She will get you in touch with what your body already knows and help you machete through the weeds that hold you back from true happiness. She's as genuine and generous as they come and has been practicing what she teaches for years (and probably lifetimes).

Like a good guide, she'll always be right there with you wherever you are--laughing, crying and everywhere in between. When you are doing that thing you do to avoid whatever you're feeling, she'll gently nudge you. When

Five stars is not enough!

First of all, if you are familiar with the yoga nidra practice and have been looking for a skilled teacher to go deeper with, please see Devorah. Not only is she extremely well versed in the theories and methods of practice, but she brings a unique perspective and awareness that is worth checking out.

If you are new to the practice, here's a brief overview. Yoga nidra is a guided progressive relaxation/meditation, where your teacher leads you through the different layers of being (physical, emotional, breath, etc.) and usually incorporates a theme of some kind
