The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center of New Orleans provides psychotherapy and assessment services for adults and children. With a commitment to the New Orleans area, our therapists work with warmth and authenticity while adding the technical skills of testing, diagnosis, and treatment selection based on the most current psychological research.
Our clinicians skillfully apply evidence-based treatment in a comfortable, accepting environment. In Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), you will learn how thinking styles impact mood and behavior. CBT treatments then teach skills and exercises designed to change thought patterns through practice.

Services
Treatment begins with an initial interview to help gain a clear understanding of the reasons for therapy. The first one or two sessions involve a careful review of important issues and will include an intake interview and a few easily completed paper-and-pencil questionnaires. This plan may involve psychotherapy alone, or may include referrals to additional services such as a medical evaluation or more specialized treatment.
Treatment begins with an initial interview with parents and children. One goal of this session is to gather information pertaining to relevant history and current problems. Another aim is to get a sense of what the family hopes to accomplish and formalize treatment goals. Next, a treatment plan is collaboratively developed.
Psychological testing primarily involves the use of pencil and paper tasks to assess a wide range of abilities, including attention, memory, problem-solving, language skills and intellectual functioning. It is the process of determining a patient's cognitive strengths and weaknesses through qualitative (approach to tasks and observed behavior) and quantitative (standardized and scaled measures) approaches.
Has your child's pediatrician or teacher brought up concerns about a developmental delay, or have you noticed that your child is lagging behind their peers? The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center offers testing and screening to give parents an accurate diagnosis, a detailed written report, and recommendations for treatment or early intervention if needed.

I started seeing Dr. Ransom several years ago when my primary care physician recommended me to him after an especially bad burn out. I had no idea how poor my mental health was until I reached the point of asking my doctor for help, but I knew I wanted more than just a prescription from my GP. It's been a long road, but Ransom's data driven approach to medication and therapy shows me how far I've come and I really feel the difference. While he doesn't take insurance, it's incredibly difficult to find a quality therapist who does, and I find his rates reasonable for what he offers; he's always been

I have been a patient of Dr. Ransom for over 2 years. I specifically wanted to see a psychologist who specialized in CBT. Working with Dr. Ransom has been transformational to my life. I can honestly say I have not ever been as happy and centered as I am now. I wish I would have had the skills Dr. Ransom has taught me way before now, but better late than never. Thank you for all of your help Dr. Ransom.

Dr. Ransom explains his therapy methods very clearly, everything he stands by includes evidence. He has helped me with many personal issues. CBT, which I had known little about, is great. It incorporates thoughts and behaviors, but also emotions. My experience was very rich and successful. I Highly Highly recommend.

(I can see the negative reviews piling up; starting to notice a pattern). My issue was the outrageous price they charge for visits for those paying with cash (if you have insurance, I am not necessarily speaking for you) plus the quality of care you get. You talk to the psychologist for an hour about your life only for her to then give you a 2 minute discussion on what you can expect from future visits. The price? $165.
For people whose lives are not together, at least at the moment, this is highly unethical; maybe the professionals there who must make six figures don't realize $165 is not pocket
