Psychotherapy gives children and teens the opportunity to learn and practice new skills for managing the obstacles in their lives. It also teaches your child to communicate their thoughts and feelings in a more helpful way. The therapeutic relationship a child has with their psychologist can serve as a building block for improving your own relationship with your child, giving you both a resource for navigating the challenges of growing up.
Triangle Child Psychology was founded with a mission to foster awareness of children's unique abilities, strengths, and weaknesses; promote understanding and shed new light on children's struggles and difficult behaviors; and create harmony within parent-child relationships and families as these challenges improve with the right interventions.
Raeann (she/her/hers) received her B.S. in Psychology from Portland State University and pursued courses in neuroscience, business and the arts. She loves working with children and teens as well as supporting their families in the process of navigating challenges and growth. As a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA), she provided skills training in the mental health day treatment and adolescent in-patient treatment settings for five years.
Many children go through a time in life where they seem to struggle in school and at home. For some children, these challenges might be a response to transitions such as the birth of a sibling, divorce, a move, a specific traumatic event, or a death in the family. For other children, there might not be an obvious trigger for their difficulties.
A consultation is the right first step if you aren't quite sure what you need. Maybe you know something is going on with your child, but you wonder, "Is it just a phase?" You might be asking yourself, "Is this really a problem, or just a bump in the road?" Or you may suspect a learning or processing problem, and you want to know more about your options.
