The nature of our relationships with people and the world begins and end with the relationship we have with ourselves. What is that relationship, and how is it working to help you grow? Communication in our relationships, especially the closest one, has more to it than the words used for it be health and satisfying for all involved.

So many things can move us forward or they can stop us, be they things of physical, mental, emotional, and/or spiritual nature. My own journey mirrors this transformation, from a boy who was diagnosed with a learning disability that discourages growth, to an adult who graduated with a Bachelor in Creative Arts degree from San Jose State and a Master in Counseling Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. That accomplishment alone is not the only part of my identity nor challenges that I've had to face on this path.
When working with adolescents, there are a variety of things that are going on in their lives. I work with adolescents by taking a more mentor-like role. This role creates and models a very different relationship than that of a parent or teacher. This relationship offers a path to understanding for the adolescent as a person, and contributes to the development of their future self.
