Act For Mental Health
ACT was incorporated in 1956 to sponsor the client-managed "Fireside Friendship Club" for persons with serious mental illness. FFC was a therapeutic, social club that worked to establish a firm foundation for everyday life. Over the years ACT earned a strong reputation for intervention, innovation, and therapy. ACT has diversified, and its mental health services now extend to individual, family and group therapy, with a focus on parent/child reunification, child trauma, and healing families.
Services
ACT provides counseling services for individuals, couples, family reunification and children. Court-mandated counseling also available. ACT provides court approved 8 week courses for Anger Management, Parenting and Co-Parenting. Santa Clara County Department of Probation, Santa Clara County Social Services Agency, Victim/Witness Assistance Center.
We have a staff of licensed psychologists, therapists, counselors and interns with various specialties. They assess and promote mental health in individuals and groups through psychotherapy using different modalities. Licensed psychologists have a doctoral degree from an accredited psychology program, and are licensed by the State of California.
ACT for Mental Health relies on volunteers to fulfill many functions. Volunteers assist therapists, work with our office staff to support administrative functions and help with client-related activities. ACT for Mental Health is a not-for-profit mental health agency that depends on donations and charitable contributions to provide quality mental health care to children, adults and families who are without the means to pay for counseling services.

The reason why I'm reaching out for mental health services is because I am struggling to help my child navigate her emotions.
When it came time for the first meeting, the therapist supposedly sent me a text message to a zoom link. I never received it and she didn't bother to follow up with a phone call. Honestly, the services

Okay, I've had therapy before through other outlets but wanted to try ACT since my employment benefits changed. Basically, I no longer had benefits so I opted for a place that was less expensive. BIG MISTAKE.

I called ACT & spoke to someone who I think was their intake specialist. She took down my name and phone number & said the therapist would call me to set up an appointment time.

One week later I get a call from someone in the office telling me that I missed my intake appointment and if I'd like to reschedule. UMM, WHAT APPOINTMENT? I never made an appointment to come in
