Thomas M. Janusz Sr. was born and raised in the Grand Crossing neighborhood of Chicago. A 1959 graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science, he and his wife Betty Lou, as first-generation funeral directors, founded Thornridge Funeral Home in 1973. Betty Lou Janusz graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1975.
