Services
The Gaidas family has been serving families for over two generations in the Chicago land area. With humble beginnings in Chicago's Back of the Yards and Brighton Park communities, we have been taking care of families by providing a "healing experience." Over the years, Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home & Cremation Service has continually provided dignified and compassionate service to the many families who call upon us.
Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.
Many who have undergone the emotional strain of arranging a funeral within hours of losing a loved one have made the choice to pre-plan their own funeral. Doing so lifts the burden from their loved ones by relieving decision-making pressure at a time of grief and emotional stress. Funeral arrangements are a deeply personal choice.
Someone you love has died. You are now faced with the difficult, but important, need to mourn. Mourning is the open expression of your thoughts and feelings regarding the death and the person who died. It is an essential part of healing. The following articles provide many practical suggestions to help you move toward healing in your unique grief journey.
Most of us are not prepared to plan and carry out a funeral ceremony for someone we love. And so much of the information available on this critically important subject fails to focus on what is most important: having a personalized, meaningful funeral that helps families and friends begin the healing process of mourning after the death of someone we love.

Everyone was very caring, respectful and helpful during a very difficult time. I have worked with Dave and his staff on two occasions and in both cases they were all professional and wonderful.

The Gaidas family provides such wonderful care, skill, and compassion during the worst days of our lives. I have worked with them to care for my grandmother and both parents, and my experience has been outstanding. David and Loretta think of everything, and make this process as easy as possible for the family. Their facility is beautiful and comfortable. As a funeral director, David handles himself professionally with grace and kindness. I cannot begin to explain what a blessing that was for me.

They do not respect that we’re going through a pandemic at all. The man in the parking lot refused to wear a mask or when he did, he kept it around his chin. There were little to no safety precautions taken other than signs saying leave after your condolences and almost empty hand sanitizer.

Dave and his staff did an amazing job, even arranging for my Mom's transport from Atlanta. With COVID, we were unable to arrange a luncheon at a local restaurant. Dave readily offered up the kitchen area for a catered lunch for us. It made a difficult day a bit easier for our family. I highly recommend Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home. Their care was top-notch.

Respectful, caring, and patient are three words that come to mind when reflecting on the professionalism of Palos-Gaidas. Making funeral arrangements for a loved one can be a stressful, vulnerable time. I work in the Probate Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County and I have dealt with a number of funeral directors. While I have found most to be competent, I believe this outfit is a cut above. I am pleased and impressed with how they handled my father's arrangements and I recommend them without hesitation.

Being from out of town and traveling in from a distance, I needed a place that I could trust that would provide my aunt with the life celebration she was due. David understood my situation and took charge, tending to every detail. He made things very easy for the family, and delivered a fitting send off for my aunt. I highly recommend them!

Thankfully, Dave is a very-longtime friend of my husband Randy's, and earlier this month when the unthinkable/unfathomable occured in that our 30-year-old daughter tragically, unanticipatedly passed away, it was Dave to whom we turned in our time of need. The chapel facilities are superlative, and the service was equally so. It… felt less like a funeral business and more like a loved one's home, which made having to be there et al so much more tolerable. Dave, Loretta & staff made every moment spent there so much less traumatic & inconsolable! We will forever be grateful to them

Dave and Loretta are compassionate, caring and know how to manage any situation with love and understanding. They make it easy to learn about preplanning and various options for services. Their professionalism and courteous gestures exceeded our expectations.
I am happy to see them involved in community events and am thankful for all they do to support and promote a high quality of life for the community. Highly recommended. They live up to the sign that is posted in their office. They do "take a sad song and make it better". Highly recommended.

I waked my dad here last year. David was very kind and compassionate as well as his staff. The facility is amazing with a great big kitchen area for people to visit in. They are all very attentive returning calls immediately. Recommended them to my cousin for her dad this past week and we received the same fabulous service. It's a no-brainer if you're looking for a great establishment for a service this is the place to go.
