The Center for Multicultural Training in Psychology (CMTP), at Boston Medical Center and the Boston University School of Medicine, hosts an APA-accredited clinical internship program. The Institute for Multicultural Research and Practice (IMPAR) was founded in the year 2000 as part of the Center for Multicultural Mental Health (CMMH).

Faculty and staff in IMPAR have provided research, consultations, evaluations, presentations and services locally and across the nation. Services
Applicants for the pre-doctoral program are required to have completed all coursework and comprehensive examinations for their doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology by the start of the internship year. The program accepts applications from all qualified candidates. Students from ethnic minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
The Identity Dialogue is an annual event at which the public, particularly students and professionals interested in culturally responsive practice, are invited to witness and participate in a conversation between senior professionals ("Elders") and CMTP interns on a question of personal and professional identity.

CMTP was founded in 1972 with a commitment to provide training in Multicultural Psychology. The program's primary mission has always been and remains focused on training multiculturally oriented psychologists to work with inner-city, low income and racially/ethnically diverse population.

IMPAR has included work covering a number of content areas such as: culturally competent practices; evaluation of cultural competence in psychiatry residency training programs; human factors research; services research evaluation; disaster behavioral health training and consultation; and, effective models of training.
The Center for Multicultural Mental Health (CMMH) haits provided Disaster Behavioral Health Response (DBHR) training to responders in Massachusetts and across the nation since 2001. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health Emergency Preparedness Bureau (DPH), with collaboration with the Department of Mental Health (DMH), is offering Psychological First Aid trainings.
