The main therapeutic approach I employ is called psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Briefly, this approach centers on helping you make changes in how you relate to yourself and others. It values the unique experience of each person and respects the complexity inherent in life. This approach can be tailored to be either brief or of longer duration, depending on your needs.
My sensibilities and outlook have been shaped by a longstanding interest in ancient and modern philosophy, film, literature, skateboarding, and a punk rock/DIY ethos. People who have not achieved lasting benefits with psychiatric medications and are seeking another path to healing have found me especially helpful.

Matthew Morrissey is a genuinely caring and empathetic therapist. He has been working with my daughter, a college student, for the past year. I live out of the area, but, with my daughter's consent, I am able to communicate with Matthew trom time to time. He understands her so very well and always has her best interest in mind. It is a huge comfort for me to know that she has the support of such a compassionate and understanding professional.

I only had 3 sessions with Mr. Morrissey, owing to mobility problems, but they must have been good because I managed to work my way through the worst pain when a 10 year relationship crashed and burned when my mate met someone he loved far more. He never let me know how unhappy he was during that decade so my trust issues were very limiting. Finally, I cut all ties to my ex just last month and I feel so free...I would like to try to meet with Morrissey again and focus on my creative blocks and fear of failure in visual and audio arts that may be related to damage from that era, or mere laziness

Matthew has been an incredible positive influence on my life. I had to add him to Yelp just to rave about him so that others seeking an empathetic, energetic therapist wouldn't be left so in the dark.
It's crazy hard finding a good therapist in this city. Many will just sit there and ask the obvious ridiculous questions and then stick out their hand for money at the end of the session.
That's not Matthew. He's actually young, actually interested in helping, and actually into what he does.
