The Crackpot Seafood Restaurant offers a casual and comfortable nautical setting where you and your family can enjoy our well known steamed crabs and the largest crab cake in Maryland. We have won numerous awards for our hot, steamed crabs - the most recent being Towson Magazine in 2017 and Baltimore Magazine in 2017.

We've also been credited for making the first Maryland style gluten free crab cakes. Towson Magazine has featured the Crackpot many times in its reader's survey as the best seafood restaurant in Towson. As recently as 2017 the Crackpot restaurant and its traditional Maryland crab cakes were repeat winners.
Services
The Crackpot Seafood Restaurant opened in 1972. Our seafood restaurant in Towson offers a casual and comfortable nautical setting. Crab traps hang from oars that extend over some of the tables. The walls are adorned with many varieties of fish including a seven foot sailfish and swordfish. Portholes and ship lanterns add to the ambiance.
The Crackpot Liquor Store is located next to the famous Crackpot Seafood Restaurant in Towson, with indoor access between the two. This access is why it's one of the only Towson liquor stores open on Sunday. The liquor store was opened in 1995 because the restaurant's owner realized that he could build a liquor store adjacent to the restaurant and utilize the restaurant's 7 day liquor license.

We were visiting my sister in Baltimore and wanted steamed crabs. She recommended the Crackpot. They were excellent. Made a reservation for 2pm Saturday and spent over 2 hrs eating very large, well seasoned delicious crabs. Got my sister a gift card as a thank you.

They took over 30 minutes to bring out our food because they were cooking food for their family members at the restaurant. We only ordered some shrimps. The food was good.

The name fits the place! What a weird restaurant. I called to see if there was a wait and the girl sounded like they were busy but could fit us in. We got there and there were 3 other tables with people. I ordered the crab cake which was good but not a whole lot of taste. I ordered a salad and they brought me a bowl of shredded lettuce!! Nothing other than lettuce in the bowl. Had three different servers and none were any good. They all looked like it was their first day. I would not go back, atmosphere was blah. Food just ok.

Over-hyped in my opinion. The space is really nice and the server was nice too. Plus we went on $5 happy hour Sunday so that made the bill cheaper. We had a sangria which didn't relly taste fruity, it tasted more like watered down orange juice and alcohol, but it did the job of making me tipsy. One of the bartenders actually gave my table a free drink that he randomly made and it tasted way better than the sangria! Idk the name of the bartender but please put that drink on the menu! It had watermelon in it which was light and refreshing, plus it made my already tipsiness become the perfect buzz

This place has been around for a long time and I used to come with family and friends for great food, atmosphere and service. I haven’t been in years and my fiancée had never been so I took him there to at least try the crab cake. We were greeted quickly and kindly and not rushed, despite the Covid-19 restrictions. We got a drink and the single crab cake entree with fries and broccoli. The crab cake was good but not quite as good as I remember it. The broccoli and fries were pretty good. Everything could have just a bit more seasoning or something is my only complaint. Still a pretty good choice

So my fiancé and I are complete foodies and were in part of town we don't frequent so anytime we see a restaurant that's new we will always give them a try. Stopped by this local place and the ambience was nice, people were very friendly and of course being in Maryland we had to try the crab cake which I have to say was pretty good. Nice size portion and flavorful. So when reviewing a crab cake in MD it's definitely hard to rate someone a 5 star but otherwise it was very flavorful.

I picked this place off of reviews. I had guests in town and we were going to be in the area. I admit the strip mall with matching liquor store was a bit of a surprise at first. The entry made me wonder what I was doing but once inside it was it's own world.
Great food. Great service. Delicious and plentiful servings. I cannot express how delightful thus place is. I recommend it.

Me and my wife ate here tonight and the food was fantastic. My wife got the Pounder which is a 23oz crab cake, it was packed with lump crab meat. I have had a crab pretzel at many different restaurants and this was the best I have had so far. The customer service was great as well, I will definitely be returning as a customer.
