Services
Alternatives in Action High School (formerly known as Bay Area School of Enterprise) serves youth from the Bay Area who are motivated to transform their lives and their communities. The first youth-initiated charter high school in the country, Alternatives in Action High School provides an environment in which youth take ownership of their own learning and partner with caring adults to change their lives as they change the community around them.
We are currently accepting applications the current 2021-2022 school year. There is a single online application system for all interested applicants at the Enroll Oakland Charter website. A first step in the applications process is finding out if the school is a good match for you. Youth at Alternatives in Action High School benefit from the important partnership between our families and school community. There are many ways you can get involved such as joining the Parent Advisory Committee or volunteering at the school. Please contact us to learn more at (510) 748-4314. The latest information about adjustments to our class schedule, online learning, and family resources.
As part of the partnership between families and our school community, we welcome parent voice, participation, and leadership. The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meets every month to discuss school issues, provide feedback and support the school. All parents are welcome to attend. PAC meetings are typically held on the third Wednesday of the month, from 6-7:30 pm.
Alternatives in Action High School is supported by a parent representative who sits on the Alternatives in Action agency Board of Directors. We value our community partners and the important ways you enrich our community.
