Dr. James R. Ellis DDS is a doctor of medical dentistry, with his Doctorate from UCLA's prestigious School of Dentistry. The office manager is his wife Maralee (she's who you'll probably talk to on the phone when you call to make an appointment). Our dental practice serves the area of Yuba City, Marysville, Roseville, Lincoln, Gridley, and the general North Sacramento area.
At SmileHero (the dental practice of James R. Ellis DDS), we take a hands-on approach to dentistry. Dentures & Dental Bridges - I have a lab on the facility where I fabricate fine quality dentures that are functional and give you a beautiful smile. After 40 years creating crowns and dentures, I have that art down to a science, and the science down to an art!

Dr. Ellis is an amazing man and dentist. He is honest, gentle and informative. We came to find him from a family member that also goes to him and recommended him. We had been seeing another dentist in our local area that was trying to get us to do unnecessary dental work so he could make more money out of pocket from us. After seeing Dr. Ellis he explained all the necessary dental work my husband needed and the cost involved. His prices are reasonable and he does necessary work not just to get more money. It was a profound honor to meet Dr Ellis. I had a minor fix that needed help. I found the doctor searching through google and was surprised when he answered the phone himself. Dentists don’t do that. He was extremely friendly and cared more about myself then just making an appointment.
I showed up he didn’t try and get me to pay exam fees, or other unnecessary things like most dentists would do. He helped me, he was very friendly and I can tell he truly cares about his patients.
After talking to him about fillings and asking other dental procedures I can tell you this man knew his stuff.

Dr. Ellis and his staff are complete professionals. As a military veteran, I appreciate that Maj Ellis, who graduated from UCLA and served our country overseas, started his profession in the USAF. He is a fantastic doc and holds the highest standards of cleanliness, and sound oral health care. I will absolutely be back!

Thanks Dr. Ellis! I went in to have Dr. Ellis fix a filling that fell out from dental work I had done years ago (by another dentist). He was very friendly and explained what happened and what he would do to fix it, which really put me at ease. I always take a lot of anesthetic to numb up, and he took the time to inject me, then sit and wait patiently to make sure I was numb before continuing. What used to be an ugly silver filling on the side of my molar is now a completely invisible white filling... I couldn't be happier! Thanks!!!

Dr. Ellis is by far, the best, most honest dentist I have ever met. He's funny, has a great bedside manner, and is straight to the point about what you need done with your teeth and won't give you the run around. He also has amazingly reasonable prices. His wife, Maralee, runs the office and is such a doll! If you get the answering service just leave a message and Maralee will call you right back to schedule your appointment.

Dr. Ellis is a great dentist, I am very pleased with all the work he has done for me and my family. He is a very experienced dentist (former Air Force) and explains everything to you in much detail. He has a great bed side manor, he talks you through the entire procedures and makes you feel so at ease and relaxed. I should have come to him years ago.....

After not giving my teeth the priority that was needed, I found myself looking for a dentist with integrity, skill and affordability. Dr. Ellis has these qualities and more. Another reviewer pointed out that Dr. Ellis did not take advantage of her as a patient who had another dentist recommend expensive treatment. This was my case as well. I was grateful that he gave me a proper evaluation and did a few crowns and fillings. He is highly skilled and a delightful human being. I am certain he is one of the smartest people that I have ever met. Consider Dr. Ellis. You will be refreshingly amazed.

First time visit today with Dr. Ellis. I have been told by a few dentist that I need root canals done. Well, to my surprise, Dr. Ellis did my teeth cleaning and said I need nothing else done. I told him I was told that I need 2 root canals and he said no. He said that, since I am older, that you teeth tend to get more sensitive. He told me what toothpaste to use. How to use my brush and I will be just fine. He could have said yes, you need the root canals to get the money but he didn't. He is the most honest dentist I know. I will only go to him from now on. Doctor Ellis is one of the nicest and most interesting people you'll ever meet. Did I mention he was a fantastic dentist too? He is! I've had crowns, fillings, cosmetic repairs all done by Dr. Ellis. His pricing is reasonable and his skills are outstanding. Just an overall nice man and honest dentist.

Hi ! I'm Dr. Ellis's brother and I can say he has always been artistic and creative in his approach to his work. He wanted to be a dentist since we were kids, and I might add that his grandfather was a dentist in Spokane, WA. What this means is that when you get dental work done by him, you are going to experience Cadillac quality for a Volkswagen price.
He did my dental work when he was living near me and he's done the denture work on our father (age 93) when he visits and there is no compromise in quality.
Needless to say, he is highly recommended.
