Services
Ken was born and raised in Medford, Massachusetts. He graduated Medford High School in 1992, Suffolk University in 1996 and Massachusetts School of Law in 1999 and has had his office in the same location in Somerville for the past 19 years. Over the years, he has litigated housing disputes in District Court, Superior Court, Appeals Court, Supreme Judicial Court and Housing Court throughout Eastern Massachusetts.
Legal counsel is indispensable to a housing dispute. Massachusetts has complex housing laws governing landlords and tenants. Not only are the laws difficult to translate, but they are sometimes interpreted differently depending on which Court you are in. Creating tenancies and drafting leases and/or tenancies at will to suit the specific property and situation;.
Early on in Attorney Vining's career, drafting Wills and advanced estate plans was a larger part of his practice, however he has since limited his work in this area to a narrow circumstance. If you are not sure what type of plan you may need then feel free to call for a free consultation any time. If you are not someone I feel I am suited to help then I am happy to refer you to someone who is more appropriate for you.

Ellie did the closing for our mortgage back in 2007 and we have used her services each time we needed amendments to the master deed for our condo association. We've also referred her to friends and family because it was so easy to work with her (and that was important when we were closing on our mortgage because it was right around the time of the housing market collapse and it was very stressful!) She is very experienced and professional and does a great job, and her rates are very reasonable.

Ellie helped us with closing our home and she did an excellent job. We had particularly difficult sellers and selling agent and ended up being more of the intermediary to finish up closing due to the unprofessional selling agent.
Ellie is the best to work with and you should try and make sure your mortgage bank will accept her because she will work for you. She also answered questions post-close and was very responsive and helpful.

Ken is simply the best. I was involved in a complex landlord and subtenant dispute as the tenant. The case is quite unique. It had been a headache to me until I met with Ken. After just one quick meeting, I knew I was in good hands.
Ken was able to quickly survey similar lawsuits in the past - some dated back decades ago - to build a strong case for me. In the end, charges against me were dismissed. He worked extremely efficiently and didn't waste a single minute of my time. Most interactions I had with him were through phone calls and he has been always straight to the point. He could be

Kenneth helped evict our difficult tenant and get our house back in good time. I was rude to have sprung the case on him last minute, but he was very accommodating and worked towards our advantage. He was upfront and honest about the costs right from the beginning. I found him to be a great communicator, knowledgeable, and professional. He made sure to call and check-in periodically during the whole process. I really appreciated his straight forwardness and guidance. I am glad we had Kenneth on our side, thank you!

Exactly what you want in a law firm when you are making a normal kind of transaction. No drama. High level of competence and great communication. Everything was done just as I hoped and expected. And the modest price was stated in advance. No need to look any farther. Thanks to all the other yelp reviewers, and I wanted to be sure to add my review. There is enough stress involved in buying or selling a home. Keep the legal stuff simple!!

Ellie served as the seller's attorney for a property owned by an LLC that I was manager for. She was very caring, responsive and generous with her time to deal with unanticipated issues that occurred throughout the deal, which enabled the deal to close successfully and on time. Her partner, a tenant law specialist, was also able to pitch in when issues of tenant and housing law presented themselves. Over all, a very positive experience and reasonable rates as well!

It is all stars lawyer.... they are very busy that prove how popular they are. There always expense with lawyer but this one is affordable, reasonable and professional...
I worked with Ken few months back for my first case eviction with "semi-professional tenants". Ken knows what is the best. As landlord, there is no rush within Mass law. Just need to be patient and do thing on time and keep all the records right.
You can deal with tenants yourself. When it comes to bad tenants, this will save your time and hassle.
I am highly recommended this Law office and the people there

Ken was kind , informative and understanding with us throughout what turned out to be a
'' tenant from hell'' story. It began softly enough with a clear cut goal - as the realtors had asked us to do- Deliver the non owner occupied 2 family vacant in order to fix it up and sell it , since we are seniors. But the tenant fought us every inch of the way - and in all likelihood, she lost her section 8 certification as she appealed multiple times. Ken was even kind to her along the way as he attempted to inform her that she had to pay her portion of the rent and that her refusal

I attended a landlord presentation that Ken did over the summer. He is very knowledgable about landlord/tenant laws. He was extremely helpful with questions, and very practical in his approach (actually recommending handling situations with tenants gently in order to avoid having to get lawyers involved). He is generous with his knowledge and his time.

I wish Ellie was my attorney when I bought my previous places. She is well-organized, her associates are prompt with answering all the emails, and she manages the process very well.
Ellie is very thorough making sure that you know exactly what all the agreements and the details mean.
Even if you have bought and sold realestate before, every time something goofy happens during the process, be it bank, seller, or something else.
Glad Ellie was our counsel!

Facing a problem tenant that I was in the process of evicting I contacted Vining Law Office to obtain legal representation. Ken contacted me immediately and in my initial consultation he patiently listened to the details of my situation, gave a thorough overview of the eviction process and what to expect, and identified several pitfalls I was unknowingly exposing myself to. He also clearly stated his fees and what to expect moving forward. Fortunately, my tenant moved out voluntarily after being served and I am happy to say I now know of Ken and the invaluable services that Vining Law Office provides

I found Vining via Yelp and decided to contact them regarding a very sticky tenant/landlord situation I had gotten embroiled in. (And couldn't be happier that i did)
Ken laid everything out clearly and was enormously helpful in understanding the situation. He laid out his cost structures in a sensible way and his rates were very reasonable.
When the situation took a pleasant turn for the best Ken helped resolve everything and has given myself and my roommates peace of mind moving forward.

I have worked with Ken and Ellie Vining professionally and personally.
Ellie is a fantastic closing attorney and my company and my clientele could not be happier with erh services.
Ken has helped me personally with a tenant issue and this review cannot begin to explain how grateful I am to him! He took a hostile situation with an irrational and unreasonable person and difused it. His patience, technique, understanding and knowledge was fantastic!

Full disclosure: I have known Ken and Ellie personally for a long time.
However, if I'd had anything but a great experience, I'd say so or simply not review.
We worked with Ellie while we were purchasing our first home this past summer. Our situation was not entirely straightforward- my husband works as a contractor so according to lenders, he doesn't have a "permanent" job, so that part was a little stressful for us. Luckily, we were also working with a mortgage broker that Ellie recommended who got us through that part. At the same time, our condo was not only a condo
