Services
Live Oak offers preschool programs designed for children 2.5 through 5. We serve communities throughout northern Sonoma County, including Healdsburg, Windsor, Cloverdale, Santa Rosa, and beyond. We approach education from the perspective of play, and we value small class-sizes that facilitate plentiful teacher/student interaction.
Founded in 1974, Live Oak Preschool is a private non-profit educational institution that serves children ages 2.5 through 5. Since our school began, we have graduated more than 2,000 students from our programs. Today we also rank among the oldest preschools in Sonoma County. Live Oak occupies the more than 100-year-old McCord House, a building that has a special history with children in our Healdsburg community.
Learning looks different at Live Oak Preschool. We believe in teaching through play and experimentation, by doing. Children enjoy self-directed experiences and challenges enhanced by teacher provocations that help students attain all the skills necessary for Kindergarten and beyond. In the classroom, our goals are to develop a child's self-respect, self-confidence, and independence in a creative and supportive environment.
Live Oak Preschool seeks to build a superior foundation for lifelong education by facilitating an environment in which children can learn through play. Our vision is to meet the changing needs of Northern Sonoma County communities and enhancing our school environment without compromising fiscal responsibility, independence, or commitment to Live Oak's mission and culture.
