We, at Spivey Karate, are so proud of Sarah Zorn. She was first female ever to lead the corps of cadets at the Citadel Military School. Her drive, determination, integrity and goal setting skills are the same as they were when she was achieving 3 1st Degree Black Belts at Spivey Karate, in Open Style Karate, Weapons & Traditional Japanese Chito Ryu Karate.

Open Style Karate is a system for teaching a methodology that combines the most modern, and up to date methods, and knowledge, of self defense training with the traditional principles of determination, respect, honor, self discipline and courage. With Open Style karate, the instructor is free to teach whatever is best for the student, regardless of the source.
The Black Belt Club of America is the original and foremost organization in the United States designed to enhance the character development of martial artist. It is a Boy Scout like program in which the best performing Spivey Karate members work to achieve the American Eagle Award, similar to the Eagle Scout.
READ THE BULLETIN BOARD: All parents are expected to read the bulletin board every time their child attends class. Do not drop off and pick up your children without coming inside to read the bulletin board. Important information is on the B. board and it can change daily. READ THE TESTING SCHEDULES: When the testing schedule announcement appears on the B. board, read the test schedule, thoroughly.

My review is both as an adult student and as a mother. I have taken martial arts classes from a Filipino mixed martial art instructor from his basement of his house, and many of his students were NY City guardian angels. So I know about tough. Mr. Spivey's style reminds me of my previous instructor, except I am learning more with Mr. Spivey. He challenges you to always be your best and do your best. He fosters respect for your country and respect for your fellow mankind. He teaches both martials arts and the martial art way (proper martial art attitude). As an adult, I am learning through repetition
