Welcome to the website of Michael Beraha, divorce and family law attorney. My office is located in Boynton Beach. I am a longstanding member of the Family Law and Trial Lawyers sections of The Florida Bar. I have been practicing law in Palm Beach and Broward County for over 30 years. More importantly, I am a lawyer that cares about and has compassion for my clients.
My practice is exclusive to divorce, family law and related matters. I make every effort to resolve your case through mutual agreement and settlement in order to minimize the time, trauma and expense of divorce proceedings. These efforts are usually successful. However, in a certain number of cases, due to various factors, settlement is not possible, and the case must be taken to trial for a judge to decide.

The official term for divorce in Florida is dissolution of marriage. Florida is one of the many states that has abolished fault as a grounds for divorce. All that is required to establish the grounds necessary for divorce is that the marriage be irretrievably broken. Either spouse can file for the dissolution of marriage.
In divorce cases involving minor children, the court deals with those issues first. It is the public policy of the state of Florida to ensure that each minor child has frequent and continuing contact with both parents after the parents have separated or divorced, and to encourage parents to share the rights and responsibilities of childrearing.
After equitable distribution has been made, the court may consider an award of alimony. The court may grant alimony to either the husband or the wife. Alimony may be bridge-the-gap, rehabilitative, durational or permanent in nature or any combination of these forms. In any award of alimony, the court may order periodic payments, payments in lump sum or both.

I had a consult with attorney Michael Beraha approximately 2 weeks ago concerning a family member and their family law issue. Michael listened carefully to the details of the situation and even further researched the matter while I was in his office. He ensured I understood what was needed in order to resolve their issue and advised me what they could do. He was forthright in his advice and in their situation felt they did not need an attorney ...just direction. My family member took his advice and now their issue is resolved. Michael advised should they need further legal assistance he would be
