For over 75 years Tempco Manufacturing has been a mainstay throughout Minneapolis, St. Paul and its surrounding communities. Tempco is a custom stamping and sheet metal fabrication manufacturer. Working with a variety of metal materials, we produce precision stamping products, stamping tooling products, sheet metal fabrication products, and assemblies for customers and industries throughout the world.
Metal forming and fabrication are broad terms that refer to any process that cuts, shapes, or molds metal material into a final product. Instead of relying on assembly methods to produce ready-made components, metal fabrication processes create a product from raw or semi-finished materials. Depending on your design specifications, there are a wide range of metal fabrication processes that can be used to create custom parts and components.
Sheet metal stamping is the process of creating two-dimensional part shapes from pieces of blanked or coiled sheet metal. The process involves placing the blanked or coiled sheet in a stamping press, where a stamping tool (or die) in the shape of the part is pressed into and through the material to create a net-shape part.
Sheet metal fabrication involves manufacturing components by manipulating sheet metal through various means. This is most often accomplished by first laser cutting or turret punching the material, followed by forming, bending, and/or rolling the sheet metal, along with welding and other assembly processes.
Steel blanking is a manufacturing process that produces high-quality specialty parts, while reducing waste and conserving costs and material expenses. Instead of developing the entire sheet metal piece, custom blanking processes produce parts by punching out pieces through the sheet metal. These part pieces are referred to as blanks.
