Whether you're a recreational boater or an avid angler, proper boat maintenance is key for any boat owner. Regardless of size or powerplant, every boat needs to be maintained. Regular, routine maintenance will prolong the life of your boat whether it's a four-stroke outboard, a stern drive, or an inboard.
Help prolong the life of your boat and keep it free from the buildup of barnacles, algae and other marine growth with antifouling paint. Boats that spend long durations of time in the water are subjected to the colonization of micro-organisms that can accumlate on the hull. These microorganisms can be in the form of barnacles or mussels, however there are a host of other organisms that can affect a boat below the waterline.
Winterizing your marine engine is probably the single most important maintenance aspect of maintenance for your boat or watercraft. When done right, very little work needs to be done in preparing a boat for sea the following Spring. Winterizing greatly extends the life of the power train by protecting all of its varied components from corrosion, freezing and dormancy.
