Services
Welcome to Master of Time, a family business in New York City's bustling Midtown, the world-famous jewelry district. We were founded in the mid-1980s by Dimitrie and Rita, a husband-and-wife team rapidly gaining a reputation for selling and servicing mechanical watches at a time when the global phenomenon of vintage watch collecting was just beginning to take shape in the United States.
At Master of Time, we believe the path to restoring and maintaining the accuracy of any timepiece goes far beyond the routine cleaning and lubrication that is performed by many. Our reputation and success are rooted in our old-style watchmaking skills and techniques, combined with modern technology, and an extensive inventory of spare parts.
As well-respected and experienced specialists in this constantly evolving industry, we provide complimentary evaluation services to sellers looking for accurate and competitive estimates, and prompt payments. Please email us pictures and a brief description of the timepiece you are looking to sell, and we will promptly provide you with a preliminary evaluation for your watch.
The reliability and accuracy of a watch appraisal is dependent on the level of experience, thoroughness, and expertise of the appraiser involved. At Master of Time, the expert father-and-daughter team draw upon their combined many decades of experience in the field and an ideal blend of complementing skill-sets and areas of knowledge.

Dimitrie is true master of watches. He comes highly recommended and there is a reason why....he is the best. He restored my grandfather's pocket watch - something I never thought could be done (it was in very poor condition when brought to him).
He was professional and was fairly priced. The watch he fixed - he also assessed and gave a detailed list of repairs preformed. Can't say enough good things about his workmanship.
If you are in dire need to fix an antique or treasured watch, look no where else - you won't be sorry. One thing to note, he doesn't have a quick turnaround

I've always had excellent service at Master of Time whether it be battery or watchband replacement on watches I did not purchase here, or help buying a watch. Sadly (and stupidly?), I lost the beautiful watch Penny sold me 6 years ago. She knows her stuff, so I returned. She knows which watches come in too often for repair and that, in the long run, it is cheaper to buy a watch without a solar battery because they cost a lot to replace. She knows what looks good on your wrist. I bought a new, expensive but nicely discounted watch today to replace my old one, and I love it. Whoever has my old watch

I recently brought my 1963 Omega wristwatch to Dimitrie for a basic movement servicing. When he was evaluating it, he called me and told me that the crown and crystal were incorrect for that particular model. So, at that point, I instructed him to replace the crystal and crown with period correct examples. He did end up servicing the watch and replacing the crystal, but he didn't replace the crown like I had instructed him to. His reasoning was that it would be about $70 more on my end to have a period correct crown sourced and installed, and since the crown that is currently on it is genuine

Don't be discouraged by the storefront and the typical booth style that is characteristic of the shops that call the diamond district their home. If you come to Dimitrie you will not be disappointed. His hard work and masterful skill are truly unmatched.
I came into the shop with my Grandfather's over 100 year old Tiffany & Co. pocket watch. It is the one thing I have that belonged to him. The watch looked fair cosmetically, but it could not wind. I had searched far and wide for a watchmaker that would not just make the watch tick again, but that would give me a sense of trust and

This review is for the customer service - not the actual service.
This place is a bit hard to find. It's in a gallery of booths inside 15 47th but note that there are two entrances. One is to the regular building an one is the booth section, it's almost a bazaar of various booths. Weird vibe inside.
MOT has weird hours and they never answer the listed phone or respond to email. You have to call another number that they had at the actual booth. Actually it was a woman in an adjacent booth that had the #. So when I finally stalked down the guy about a repair he said he could get around
