Executive Chef and Owner, Shawn McFalls has been in food service for over 20 years. At the age of 15 he started as a dishwasher for a local bakery; then proceeded to various other positions from a service station to cafe worker to Executive Chef at Charlotte Motor Speedway, servicing known clients such as Michael Jordan and O. Bruton Smith.

Story of true hustle from a small business owner doing whatever it takes to keep making it. Kudos to Shawn McFalls from Grate Catering Co. We talked late yesterday about offering our guests grab and go meals that they purchase so they don't need to go out or pay delivery fees etc. Today Shawn shows up with a small tabletop refrigerator (brand new) and 12 asst.

We contacted several caterers for our wedding, and knew we wanted to work with GRATE from the beginning, even before we had a tasting. Sarah was an absolute dream to work with. She was extremely flexible and patient in helping us nail down a menu, made great suggestions, handled all of our rentals, and worked her magic with making sure we stayed… in our budget. We met her and Shawn at our tasting, and were immediately blown away by their professionalism, enthusiasm, friendly demeanor, excellent customer service, and absolutely phenomenal food! The MOST amazing experience for our wedding day! Sarah is an absolute pleasure to work with and will customize to any type of taste you're feeling. My husband is allergic to shellfish and they took it very seriously which was super comforting! The food was everything we could ever ask for and our guests are STILL talking about it two weeks later! I highly recommend for any event!!

I cannot say enough GRATE things about this place. We used Grate Catering Co for our wedding and we’re highly impressed. We did a Mexican taco package, which was incredible! Our families were skeptical of… Mexican, but our guests RAVED about it. Sarah made sure everything was set and ready to go before the event. She even prepared plates for me and my husband! Wow. I was blown away by Grate. Me and my husband really wanted tacos for our wedding, and they have the most amazing package. Sarah was prompt in responding to emails and questions, and she made sure everything was perfect. I was so glad to meet her when she served us our food. The serving table was beautiful, which is not usually the case with many catering companies. And Oh My Goodness. The food was incredible. Our guests could not stop raving about how yummy it was and how it was such a great idea to do Mexican. Grate even provided plates and other plastic ware, ice for the bar, and a bartender

Wanted to take and minute and brag on the wonderful experience we had with Grate Catering at our wedding. It was a dreary, very wet night and we messed up the schedule completely, but they were accommodating, professional and just phenomenal to serve our guests and make sure everyone was happy. I appreciate so much the entire experience- from the initial phone consultation, to the final check-in, Grate Catering exceeded my expectations and I can honestly say that they earned my complete confidence early on.

Their food is among the greatest I have ever have. Shawn is an excellent chef. I ordered this food for a dinner party I had at my house and the prices were so much cheaper than the groceries that I would have to buy and cook. I will be a repeat customer for sure. Would like to name a favorite but it is all excellent, high recommend 👍

We had them cater a wedding for 200 in Jan 2020. They were professional and did a great job. The food was quality, served hot and was fresh and not overcooked. Actually we never really saw their staff during our 4 hour event of appetizers, dinner and more. They did what we contracted for and were not in the way. The entire time they kept the food coming, cleaned up and refilled as we expected. The food was plentiful and reasonably affordable but best of all - it tasted good. We interviewed other caterers and chose them. We would recommend them.

If you're on the fence or considering another caterer, I'll make it easy on you by saying you do not have to look any further. I honestly could not say enough positive things about this company. We had the honor of having Grate Catering cater our wedding and it was absolutely phenomenal! I have had so many people rave on and on about the food! This team is wonderful starting with Shaun and all the way down to the kind servers who gave me such sweet advice right before heading to the ceremony. They provided a fabulous tasting beforehand, that honestly felt like date night, and we had so much food

I have used GRATE numerous times and we love them!! They catered our son’s wedding reception, a bridal shower and the last three of our office open house galas.
The food is outstanding and the presentation amazes me every time. Shawn and Sarah are so ‘great’ to work with! They are professional, creative and work so hard to make your event special and perfect.

I worked with Sarah throughout the planning process and she made sure to answer my 1,000,000 questions and was a pleasure to work with. An extra bonus was the fact that they have mixed matched antique dinnerware that you can rent! It was great for me as I did not have to get another vendor involved for rentals!

My husband and I were planning from out of state and they were flexible when planning our tasting and offered great suggestions to make an amazing experience for our guests! Grate Catering provided the food for my daughter's wedding and they did a fantastic job. The communication was excellent. I highly recommend the meatballs and the pork sliders and the fruit was perfectly sweet. I can't say enough about the wait staff. They were courteous and professional. Should I need a catering service again Grate will be the first one I call.

Grate Catering catered a training that we had in North Carolina. We are a St. Louis company that provides training for the low income housing industry. It completely put my mind at ease having them do our event!!
