Horsnyder Pharmacy was founded by Dr. Horsnyder on Pacific Avenue in 1884, making the store one year older than the Statue of Liberty. I am so happy to have Horsnyders in this county. The staff is TOP KNOTCH - they are so knowledgeable & helpful.
I went in yesterday to get a brace for my elderly father - I am SO grateful for Annah and Vicki - my goodness! They did so much to make sure it was going to work out right for my dad.
Thanks to the owner and/or manager of this store for attracting the right type of employees to compassionately care for the customers - and thanks to Vicki and Annah for being such attentive, patient and knowledgeable people!

So disappointing.
I chose Horsnyders because I want to keep my money with local businesses. I got out of surgery today at 9 am. Finally at 5 pm got my script filled. Apparently some of the clerks got upset with my 2 year old daughter who lost patience whilst my wife and she had to wait 20 more minutes to get the script filled. Meanwhile I'm at home in pain.

I was pretty shocked today to see two employees of a PHARMACY not wearing their mask properly. One was behind the glass where they fill medication and one was in the medical supply corner. Both had their masks below their noses the entire duration I was there. I would hope that at all places, especially a pharmacy that has many long time elderly customers, would be taking the upmost precautions when it comes to covid.

I have absolutely no idea how someone could give this place anything short of five stars.
First the back story to the reasoning for my visit.
I tore a ligament in my foot and was told by my doctor to not put weight on my foot for the next three weeks. Crutches are horribly annoying to juggle around and my work place involves me moving around freely and utilizing both of my hands. So I looked into ordering a manual knee scooter, so that way I didn't have to take off of work.
I looked all over the place to find one to order from Amazon, Walmart, target. Etc.
Unfortunately due to the pandemic

I want to shop locally and despise corporate pharmacies. Hard for me to get there, because I work over the hill. Got there 1740 a couple of weeks ago. They wouldn't fill all my prescriptions, said I had to choose 1. I asked if they could mail them and they said for $3. Two weeks later, no meds arrived. I work in healthcare, including 8 years in pharmacy. Very uncaring. Nobody cares anymore.

This is the most unfriendly medically oriented business I have ever experienced. People that come in here are usually sick and or injured, seeking help,, and don't need a bunch of crap from a bunch of crabby old women. they think because they are the only game in town , they feel they don't have to earn your business or be kind and courteous.. this place went under a few years ago due to poor management and is now back in the saddle with the same old crabby people that are so hard up for money because of financial mismanagement that beware when they ask you if you're in their system

First visit to Horsnyder's. I walked in and stopped. Where do I begin? The clerk was busy doing paperwork, but raised her head, greeted me, and asked if she could help me. Points for acknowledgement. I told her I needed help finding a knee brace. She pointed me to the aisle and notified me that there was a long wait for personal help. I perused the aisle and realized I needed the help. I was already in the midst of afternoon traffic so I plopped down on a cozy chair and played a game on my phone. Aging and physical decline brings you to unusual places and products. Things you made fun of or treated as jokes are now front and center in your life. So it was with me. On a recommendation from PAMF I went to Horsnyder's pharmacy for what I now know are "compression products". Quickly finding a wall full of these I had to figure out which one would work for me. I picked a size I thought appropriate in a totally neutral, if your white, color, blanching in shock at the price. At the register the cashier gave me a quizzical look and asked why I picked that particular item. I explained

Hornsnyder is a local pharmacy that has been around FOREVER. It is well-stocked for most medical equipment needs. It has a dedicated office for medical equipment purchase or rental. We needed a medical device that required insurance approval. Hornsnyder was supposed to contact us once the approval was received. This did not happen. I had to make a follow-up phone call to check on the status of our request. The customer service is great if it is something that the pharmacy can fill the same day, but follow-through is not that great.

Omg, I confirm all recent reviews. These pharmacists are so rude! You can't even share your concerns "privately" with the manager, without being interrupted by an employe who backs up the behavior of her colleague. Not only these employees refuse to help you, but they won't let you submit a legit complaint about their misconduct. The manager said she'll have a word with them, but when I returned they had no apology to give. Don't expect any improvement.

The most important part of the community is the health of our community! That's what Phil and his team keep in mind each time they tend to the needs of their customers. The only place in Santa Cruz that has all the medical equipment that may be prescribed to you. They deliver not only medical equipment but prescriptions too! I'm from the east coast. This is like a home town pharmacy in the southeast that my grandmother was so fond of! Awesome through and through! Thank you to all the wonderful staff for helping to keep Santa Cruz well!
