Services
The availability of LAHayeSIK has encouraged many who have been postponing refractive surgery to finally come in for an evaluation. These patients tell us a similar story: I've been waiting for this technology to get to the point where it seems safe. I am ready to have the procedure now. Having had vision correction surgery myself, I understand what it means to make such an important decision, and the quality of life benefits it can bring.
We want to welcome you to LaHaye Total Eye Care, where we have combined the latest advances in ophthalmology, technology and surgical techniques with unparalleled personalized service. Whether you are here for primary eye care, "Instant Vision" cataract care, a visit to Lunettes de LaHaye optical, or to experience the LAHayeSIk laser correction procedure, our goal is to make your visit as friendly and individualized as possible.
I learned early on in medical school what an incredible impact ophthalmology especially groundbreaking procedures has on people's lives. That's part of my motivation for developing technology like the "LAHayeSIK, " which improves the accuracy and safety of refractive surgery. I really strive to improve in some way all the procedures I perform to increase my patients' chances for perfect vision from cataract surgery to LASIK.
I always knew I wanted to work with people, to help them. However, a background in math and physics does not necessarily lead you down that path. When it came to choosing between the lab and medical school, the choice was clear. It's an absolute privilege to be able to improve God's gift of sight when it becomes damaged or defective.
Basically, all those letters mean I'm the guy who helps everything come together smoothly for our patients. From the moment they walk through the door to the moment they grab a cup of free frozen yogurt on the way out, I'm here to make sure they leave here feeling better, seeing better, and better-informed.

RUDE….that about sums up this office…with the exception of 1 or 2. Front desk staff clearly do not like their job. Surgery scheduler went through so much info in a VERY short period of time and got the pre-surgery instructions wrong (checked the wrong boxes). Woman who comes to take you back to surgery was rude. She actually fussed at my elderly mother for not taking her heart meds prior to getting there when the person who called her the day before told her NOT to (she said just bring them with you in the morning). Luckily she acted like that out of my ear shot. For the money you pay this

Can I rate them a minus number?? My 1st appointment was in Opelousas. The guy who checked my vision & glasses first said wherever I had gotten my glasses from gave me the wrong prescription. The doctor then said he was wrong, shouldn't have said that, ordered a different eye exam & left the room to go fuss at him for telling me that. They ran the test & ordered another one that couldn't be done in that office that day. I asked for an appointment in Lafayette, & they set one up for about a month later. I received at least 5 text messages verifying the appointment for the certain date & time in Lafayette

After sitting in the parking lot, because of “COVID Restrictions”, waiting on my wife for an hour past her “appointment time”, I walked in to a full waiting room (good job virtuous red sign on the door). I’m thinking they don’t have a working clock because it seems it’s becoming the norm of waiting for an hour an a half. Now Dr Lahaye and his staff was awesome during the original procedure but the Opelousas office is terrible for promptness.

I’ve been going for several years. Every time I wait for hours. I go in around 2/3 pm and I don’t come out until 5 pm. This year my appointment was for March but the place was closed due to Covid 19. I didn’t even get a call... I had to find out for myself after looking at their website. When I rescheduled it was for July. Then later they call saying they have to reschedule because they’re short staffed. I had made my appointment a month before and I didn’t understand why they were calling me days before I had to go in. The issue should’ve been resolved long ago and I shouldn’t have

This place is unbelievably unprofessional and the employees obviously aren't looking to keep OR work with you. When we came in we weren't greeted warmly at all. All we got was a cold "You're late" Mind you, this was by like 10 minutes. They had the nastiest attitude I've ever encountered. They are extremely uppity, acting as though they are the only option in the universe for eye care. It is truly peas for brains up there.

I went there with son and at the beginning I was very satisfied. But, when I decided to pay for my baby's glasses out of pocket (big mistake). He broke them and I couldn't find all the pieces. The front office manager told me I was extremely irresponsible. And then went in to tell me that I needed to have the glasses with me in order to do a warranty. There was no paper stating this. This was 2 years ago and I have never went back. And even when I asked to speak with someone above her. She told me they didn't except escalated calls. I really hope she is not longer there. Because someone will pop

I had a number of complaints about my eye, which is the reason I chose an ophthalmologist instead of an optometrist. I was having double vision, spatial distortion, and severe pain in my eye. I was given a very thorough optometric exam, and told that I had 20/20 vision. I said, "then why can't I see?" The doctor, Zvi Aviner, paid no attention to my complaints whatsoever. He told me I had macular degeneration and small cataracts, said I did not really have pain in my eye, and did not help me. I had to go to more doctors and do some thorough internet searching before I got real help. I think this

Had cataract surgery where the lens implanted was recalled. My eyesight was worse than it had been before the surgery. I could not see clearly through the implanted lens. It was four months before a second surgery (PRK - they chose to re-shape my cornea to fit the incorrect implanted lens...) was scheduled to fix the issue as they waited for payment from the lens company in England. I had also requested payment for the new medication since it was so expensive and I had already paid for the eye drops ($148 x2 with insurance) from the original surgery as well as my insurance copay ($225). After surgery

I had cataract surgery on my right eye in January '19 and then in my left eye this past September '19. The care before, during and after my surgeries was better than excellent. I couldn't be happier with the service I received and with my 2 new "bionic" eyes!!!

First they had me wait while my eyes dilated then realized 20 minutes later that they had not put in the drops. Finished exam only to find out that I needed to see a different person to get contact lens fitting which means another appointment even though I stated that was what I was going in for. So now still do not have new contact prescription. Finally go to check out and they tell me they do not take my insurance which I specifically asked about when I called to make appointment and they said yes we take it. So now I will wait to see if insurance will actually pay and wait another month to get
